Morning Kim, You're at it bright and early! lol. I just finished a piece yesterday (yipee!) so I'll be sending it off today. Right, you're ED number. When you first put your disc in you will have an index type thing down the left hand side. If you click on where it says 'Description Page' prior to the piece you are transcribing it shows you a few pages such as the example page, summary page etc first. The ED number is on the very first of those pages where it says Description of Enumeration District. Folio numbers are the numbers that appear in bold on the top right hand corner on every other page. Each folio number covers two pages. Jeanette x

Ok. Well Censdemo isn't that important but you are going to need Blank. I would try deleting them and download them again. If you still have the same problem, contact your co-ordinator. Sorry I can't be of more help Marie. Jeanette x

Ok So I've completed the first enumeration district, do I send this one off, or do I wait until I've done the entire CD? (and do we still have to get it onto a floppy?) Cheers Steve

Crikey Steve! You've been giving it some welly! lol Didn't your co-ordinator ask you to do them a sample first for them to check? They usually like to make sure you're doing it right (not that you aren't of course!). We usually send it off when we've done the whole cd. It's usually a good idea to back it up either onto floppy or cd every now and again just incase of computer cock-ups! Jeanette x

Glad to read about your problem in opening the blank, Marie. The same thing is happening with me too. I've tried to download it several times and it's the same problem every time. Any ideas, anyone? Jack

Hi Jack, I can only suggest contacting your co-ordinator as there may be a problem with the site. I'll drop a line to Carol too and see what she says. Jeanette x

RE problem's I have found it easier sometimes to ring Carol,or she will ring you back as she has a little girl and it's easier to get hold of her after 9pm. Good luck Ann

By Jove, I think I've got it! By downloading it for the nth time, reading the Excel help page about csv files and a lot of jiggery pokery, I seem to have got it to work. Fingers crossed! Marie, if you want to know what I did, drop me a line. Jack

Jeanette. Not started yet but listen out tomorrow about mid- morning. I think it will be one of those things that fall into place when you start. Only had a quick look at demo. I presume it is okay to format columns on spreadsheet to autofit selection? Maureen

Jeanette and guys got a really daft question. Printed off all the instructions and should be alright once I get going. BUT did not realise that the disk would open in Internet Explorer. Is that right? Never had a disk do that before. Maureen

Maureen My computer is permenantly connected to the internet. But it wasn't when I first started transcribing and I'm sure I could work offline then. Perhaps you could send Carol a query as she will be able to get in touch with the guy that does the discs. Jeanette x
