Member Since: March 2004 Posts: 752 Send Message	I have two old letters written by an Edward Bayley of Market Drayton, Shropshire in 1820/21. He wanted to sell his estate or borrow £6000, so I assume that he was a member of the landed gentry. I've tried searching for him because I'm curious to know more about him. I've found an Edward Bailey of Drayton who lives on a street not in a great hall, that may be him. I want to know what the criteria is to be put under the first listings for gentry, nobles and clergy. would the gentry have to own vast swathes of land? Can anyone help? Louise
