You are all making me EXTREMELY jealous. I managed to research my Mums Dad's side back to 1802 but everyone else seems to have vanished. If I wasn't here I wouldn't believe they existed. Been at it since June 2003 but mine are a measily 40 and have 27 certs including 2 wrong ones. :-( M |

OK - A serious answer this time! Confirmed direct line ancestors: 74 Total blood relatives (or married to blood) in tree: 529 Number of certs: 34 (plus 2 more due this week) Time: 5 months Plus my favourite item which is a transcribed copy of the book written by my 4th great grandfather. This gives loads of details on him, his family, their neighbours and the comings and goings in the town they lived in. Like others, too much money spent but this hobby has given me such enjoyment and satisfaction that I do not begrudge a single penny! Louise |

Oops I must be going wrong somewhere,I've been researching for about 2 and a half years (started from scratch).I've combined mine and hubbys tree on this site I've got 168 names (it'll be near 200 when I add the new ones I've found recently) and about 260 on my my family tree maker (some of my family didn't want their names on the web).Approx 40 BMD certs and 2 filing cabinets and a desk (and floor ) full of BMD,1837 and census searches.plus copies of wills, war diaries and campaign histories etc,I never put anyone on the tree until I'm sure they belong, but boy isn't it tempting to try and make some people fit when you're stuck. I was quite pleased with my results so far ,but boy you lot leave me way behind. Elaine |

About 950 at home; around 30 certificates and 2 years. Includes loads of data from people on here plus a handed-down tree, though, I can't take credit for it all. |

Hi, On FTM I have 685 ancestors (350 - from other family members doing research) only about 135 on GR 16 BDM certs ( but have been able to authenticate from registers) Have a backlog of certificates I would like to send for but have to space them cost wise. and have been researching on and off for 17 years. ( one side of the family have been doing my head in for all those years its a triple brick wall!) My husband says if only I would put in 10% of the time I spend researching into my day job - he could of retired by now (we work together!) judy |

Just over 1000 in tree although some are wives names from Census info whose surname is 'unknown' etc. Quite scared that my husband will find out I've got 42 certs, plus I've got a few photocopies of the live rellies certs. Also got copies of a couple of marriage licences, a couple of wills, army papers etc. Been addicted to this for 2 years and 18 days according to my GR membership. |

Chris, I'd say you're probably doing better than me. I hold off buying certs unless I really have to. I've probably gone wrong somewhere, but I'll figure that out later lol |

Well I have never counted how many certificate I have, to many I think, There's my dad's side I have all the certicates back to my gg grandfathers marriage, his fathers death, then his mothers side of the family, then there my Mum's only got back to g granddad on her fathers side, still looking for his marriage, I have found his wifes family, Mums mother side I am back to the 1600's as they are local and I have all the records for them. Then theres my husbands family need I go on. If I started to count it might just make me think I am spending to much money. Not only do I have copies of census pages but I do have CD's as well, then there the wills. I think I will stop here as I am thinking now how much I have spent. Should have added I have been doing my FH for 5 years Irene |
