Hello again Mike - Do you have Leicestershire marriages? I am looking for the same John marrying an Anni their first child was born in 1864. I do have a marriage on the IGI 1862 but it says she is from Blaby (which is what it says on the 1871 census) but it says he is born in foleshill Warwick 1840. He is 29 on the 1872 and says he is born in Wigston. What do you think? Their first 3 children were born in Blaby IGI not always accurate. Can you check on your marriage for me . According to IGI she was Ann Meshurst. Idea! I will just see if I can find the children born in Blaby! That will answer question.... Alice

Greeting's Again Alice...... Sorry my County wedding disks stop by 1837. Are you trying to find out the maiden Name of the Ann ? ( It was transcribed as Anni on the Index but on the original Image it's ANN and ANN.A. for the daughter.) Having look at the original Image for 1871. which you gave the details of I see that there is a Son Arthur aged 9. so if you ordered his birth Certificate then that will tell you the name of Mother ..... Birth. April.~Mar.~May. Qrt. 1869. Arthur Smith. Blaby. Cert No. 7 a. 41. To find the marriage would be a big task due to the common Christan & surname of John and Ann....... But if that cert is the right one then that would give you a fighting chance to then find the marriage knowing Ann's maiden name. MIKE.

Hello again... Pushing my luck but no hurry! I am hoping to find the family of Henry Cherry on the 1841. In 1851 Henrywould be round about 25. Wife Eliza also 25 and son Henry 2. All born in Leicester. Dare I be cheeky enough to say thank you in advance? Thanks for your help Mike, All I know is that gdad Cherry lived somewhere offf the Narborough road on the A47. Can't remember the name of the road but we broke down there one day inthe late seventies and were taken into a house - the people remembered the Cherries. Very nice cup of tea and AA man too.... Good evening people. Went to the Framework Knitting Museum at Wigston yesterday. Absolutely fascinating. Thought husband was going to die of boredom but I had a wonderful time! If you've not been you should go, if only to support the volunteers who have done such a good job. V useful to know how my ancestors spent their working lives. It might have been repetitive, but after the day I've had today I think it would beat working for an estate agent!! lol Getting back to the plot...Mike - do the indexes etc that you have cover Oadby? Was that part of Leicester in the 19th century or was it like Foleshill and Coventry and only absorbed later? I have Thomas Simons, bricklayer and I'm after a maiden name for his wife Rechabina, but because she's always transcribed incorrectly on the census index I'm stuck again. Never heard the name before. Anyone think it could be a gypsy name? If it is then maybe one thing out of all the things my mother told me may turn out to be true! Cross my palm with silver dearie.
