Hi Mike That is just fab info about where Hannah Haywood was on census day 1871. I wonder who these people were 'the Browns' that she was visiting. Her mother Mary had already died in Oldbury in 1870 but Edward didn't die until 1877. In 1881 census William and Joseph her brothers were visitors at a house in Oldbury, listed under the name of Hawood. It seems like the family were being spread around. Quite a mystery. Greeting's Again Margaret..... I rechecked the 1871. again.... But it only stated VISITOR.... NOT Neice/ Sister in Law. or anything which would link her to them:0( Can only think Isaac & Eliza were some sort Foster Parent / Ward of Court....But didn't want to state that ?...... Hannah seems to have gone to ground from 1871. I've just done a search with just.... 'Hannah born 1859. + - 5 Years. and born in St. Margaret's Parish Leicester. ' It came up with only one hit........ So...... just wonder if this could be a long shot ? 1891 Census..... RG 12 / 2541. / Folder 118. / Page. 7. Leicester. St. Leonard's Parish. No. 50. Abbey~Gate. But Hannah states born 1858 (aged 43) Glove Hand. and William's occupation is a Glover (not Muslin) and NO children..... MIKE.

Thanks Mike, I had looked quickly at the 1881 census and not at my list of births, they both vary a bit! My family seemed to like changing their age. Regards

Thanks Mike for rechecking the 1871 census for Hannah Haywood re the Brown connection. The address at 50 Abbey Gate (1891) and the marriage with William J Clements does look promising. Being new to all this what direction should I go in to try and check this new lead. Should I go for a marriage cert. for them to see if it is my Hannah? Grateful for any suggestions. Margaret

Hi Mike Its that Heawood family again. I know I can't yet locate Hannah, but, she had two sisters Mary about 1858 and Catherine about 1862. After the family were orphaned I am still trying to see if they all returned to Leicester to the rest of the family. I have recently found out there was probably a family rift which is why Edward tootled off to Oldbury from Braunstone. The plot thickens. As always I wait with fingers crossed for the maestro to speak. Margaret

Knock...Knock...Is there anyone there ...... On the 1881 Census I've got a Mary Haywood. Aged 23. Umar. Born Leicester. Servant Cook to James & Betsy Stains of Granby Ave Off London Road Leicester. Also on the same Census Ive got a Catherine (No surname or place of birth given) Aged 20. Servant in a Public House in Liverpool. And wait for it........ In the same Public House we have an Edward Haywood stating he's 36 with a wife Martha aged 26. with two small children 4 & 8 Months old all with no place of birth given..... There is also a Thomas Haywood aged 30. Brother. In the public house again with no place of birth given... I've got a Edward Haywood aged 54. on the 1891. census patient in Leavesham Asylum (Watford) no place of birth given again.... Slutching at straws over the last two hits ? but worthy of note. I doubt if we'll bottom this because as the census come up to the persent years The Females are more likely to marry and so we'll not know the married names...... MIKE.

Hi Mike Thank god Edward died in 1877 at least I'm not descended from a lunatic - no comment please. The Catherine in Liverpool does seem worth keeping a note of. Often the most unlikely information becomes true later in the research. Thanks again I will try to leave you in peace for a while.

Mike, re twins Henry and Thomas Goss. Received the birth cert today and it is one of the sets of twins I am looking for. They were born on the 23/24 May 1864 birth cert even has the time, Is this normal in twins? The only problem is that on the burial it states died age 2 weeks, would their burial have been held up or are the burial records sometimes wrong. Thanks for all your help. Jo

Greeting's Again Jo..... YES... The addition of the time on English Birth Certificates usually indicates TWINS.. This is just in case in latter years a dispute arises on Inheritage claims on the estate of the deceased Parents.... Re checked the Burial records for Welford Road Cemetery again Looking at the entries above both records it states 2 Weeks for that entry too...So can only assume the translator got carried away..... Plus there may have been a coroner's Inquest but can't think it would have taken 3 months ? Or The other Thomas buried in the same grave in 1863 states 5 Months Old. Again wonder if a mistake as happened again ? It might be resolved by the ordering of Burial certificates ? ..... MIKE.

Hi Margaret You might want to check this out there's a Mary Haywood marriage Leicester September 1882 Vol 7a page 367 and a Henry Moore marriage Leicester Sept 1882 Vol 7a page 3[68]7 that means it could be 8 or 7 and on the 1891 Census theres a Henry Moore with wife Mary birth 1859 Leicestershire Beverly

She has always been interested in my family history research but the tree for her was seriously overloaded on one side, while her branches were somewhat bare....... Not any more!
