Maddie. i'd say Matthew- looking at the ennumerators writting he appears lax in crossing his T's. he also appears to have changed pen to go onto the next household, hence the image above (yours) lacks strokes, as though the ink was running out. jess

Hi Jess Lou has given me a chunk of the tree to attack and she said you're the woman to yell for if I get stuck with ancestry. YELL!!! I've found one of our Stuart family on the 1871 census, Samuel born 1837, birthplace just given as Essex. They're at RG10/575 folio 75 page 47 living St Mary Stratford le bow (London????). His wife Sarah Ann's mother is with them, Mary Ann ?????. Its the ??? I'm stuck with. The index gives her surname as Masthie, I don't think it is. She doesn't appear on the 61 that I can see with that surname and I can't find her on the 81 or a death between the 2 for anyone with that surname. Would you mind taking a look and seeing what you think her surname might be? Thank you so much Maddie

Jess, don't know if this will help but Eliza Davies's residence at time of marriage was 36 Higher Bury St Heaton Norris County of Lancaster Heaton Norris is near Stockport which is down as Cheshire. I n 1901 census they were living in Stockport.

Sorry Jess I missed that info off (put it down to my age). Eliza's surname is Davies on her marriage certificate, there is no mention of any other first names.

I have the following in 1861 Dennis Mullen head age 25 Bridget Mullen wife age 28 Mary Mullen daughter age 3 Cecilia(but looks like Bertha on original) daughter age 1 Cecilia Mullen mother age 55 living at 39 Low Lights, North Shields, Tynemouth. I have been searching for ages for a birth cert for any of the Mullen children in order to establish the maiden name of Bridget and a wonderful lady at North Shields Reg. office has found one for Mary but the spelling is Mullin. Could you check and see if there is another Mullin/Mullen family as follows Dennis Head Bridget Wife Mary born 1857 living Dark Stairs, North Shields, Tynemouth (in 1857 on birth cert.)
