Jan, I can't find him in 1871 -would they have had any children by then- it might help jess

Jess. There are children on the 1881 but not on family search. John Lawry or Lawrey born 1858. Thomas Lawry or Lawrey born 1863. It looks as if Mary was lying on the 1881 because I have just found her death on free bmd and Mary Kittow Lawry was 81 when she died in 1894, so she was born 1812/13. She stated she was 58 when she was actually 69!! So on the 1871, she would have been 59 but would have declared herself 48. Little liar.......

June, really you need a better idea of where he was born. His marriage cert will tell you both his fathers name and his wife maiden name and that of her father, also where they were married sorry jess

Hello Jess, Could you please investigate John Nicolson and Mary Ann Burns. Mary Ann Burns was born in Leeds 1871. I have no idea when John Nicolson was born. They were married in Leeds in 1896. The area I am interested in concerns the 1901 period. John and Mary had 4 children. John, Vincent and Richard and one other female. What I would like to find is the female's name as I am led to believe she was the oldest, but cannot confirm this. Any help would be useful as I have no detail on the John Nicolson pre married nor any detail after marrying Mary Ann Burns. I have knowleged of Mary Ann Burns and her family. hi Jess. I still can't tie it up. Can you see if there is a Mary Kittow Lawrey or Lawry born 1823. That is the year of birth she stated on the 1881. The other children were Mary Ann b 1844. Elizabeth b 1846. Joseph b 1848. Edward b 1849. GRace b 1851. Joseph William b 1854. Stephen Goldsworthy b 1857. John b 1859, Thomas b 1864. Obviously most of the children would have left home by then. Thanks so much

Hi Jess You seem to have the knack of tracing very elusive people, so here goes. I am trying to trace a very elusive THOMAS HOLMES on the 1891 census, he was born in Wiltshire 1855/56 which would make him 36/37. On the 1861, 1871,1881 and 1901 he is living in Wandsworth, Surrey. On the 1891 census his mother Sarah is living in Wandsworth and his wife Mary is living in Bolton Le Sands, Lancaster, but no trace of Thomas anywhere. Any help would be appreciated. Regards Shirley

Hi Jess I appreciate your time Yes, that is Thomas Holmes's family in Wandsworth and his daughter Sarah Holmes who was born Bolton Le Sands Thomas Holmes married Mary Sandham, Wandsworth 17.04.1881. He was definately in Wandsworth 1889 when his father was killed in a street fight. Thomas is one of my brick walls so it would be nice to locate him on the 1891, but I have a feeling he was probably upto no good and was missed . Regards Shirley
