John Swindell was recorded as a Police Officer on a census at Bow Street, London! I am just gonna check which census it was - will post again! Kate |

the 1891 census - he was born between 1864 and 1866! Can't find him at all on 1901 census - so was worried he might have died on duty or something? Kate |

Hi Kate, not sure where they are based, but the Met Police do have a museum that might have some old records, try googling it and see what you find. Trudy |

I think the site Policeorders will not take any more members so you need someone who already has access, try to find 'Helen Little Nell' on this site, she has been very helpful on this subject. Keith |

I am a member on Police orders site and there are 2 John Swindell’s (1870 Died, the other 1885 joined, 1890 changed location to Bow) do you know his rank or warrant number. Kate Sorry didn't reply sooner I'm on OZ time! I am on it but for some reason the police orders site is very slow and won't let me on the log in screen, will keep trying.
