This is a great idea and I hate to be critical but has anyone had a useful answer from this? It's probably a result of poor Anthony having to type out quick answers to so many questions but the response I received was very general and left me with more questions. I hope it's helping somebody but if not should we contact GR about maybe changing the format? Or perhaps I just asked the wrong question! What do you reckon? Louise |

Hi Louise I took part as well and actually got a pretty good response to my question. However, I haven't a clue now what to do with the answer or where to start looking cos it's an area I've never delved into before Need to post for help now I think! Lou |

I always miss it, but don't like the look of him on homepage anyway. LOL. AL |

If the poor man is battling with GR technology AND working live, I don't see how he can answer questions in anything but the broadest terms. The alternative would probably be to pick half a dozen representative questions and answer them in detail. The snag is that this would probably take him longer and people would get miffed if their question never appeared. |

Hi, No, it wasn't the General Board. About once a month GR offer a live web chat with Anthony, a professional genealogist. You get to it via the homepage and it is advertised as a place to aks questions about brick walls or other tricky situations where you would like some professional input. I really don't want to sound like a whinger as I think it is good for GR to offer this but I was just wondering if it could be improved. Louise PS. My question is how to find birth records in Aberdeen when it doesn't appear on Scotlandspeople or any of the usual websites. |

Hi Lou, Glad you were a satisified customer although I did note that Anthony was touting his own services in answer to one of your queries! Good on him - it made me laugh!!! Louise |

Hi Brenda, It's a good idea about a few more detailed answers each month. I wonder if this could be done as well as the live web chat ... I feel an email to GR coming on! I certainly agree that anyone battling GR technology on a live basis deserves credit. Louise |

Hi Louise, I take it you don't live near Aberdeen records office (if such a place exists). If your close to London you could visit Family Records Centre in Myddleton Street, nearest train station is Angel if you know at least one name and D.O.B. |

Hi Ann-Marie, Your guess is correct I live almost as far away from Aberdeen as is possible within the UK! I've been to the FRC a few times but it is very limited for Scottish research - it's mostly England and Wales. I guess I will just have to wait until I can get a trip to Aberdeen organised but patience is not my strong suit! Another complication is that my family would prefer to spend their annual holiday places other than Aberdeen Records office even though I think that they are wrong. Records offices are much more fun than sunshine, exotic locations and upmarket resorts! Louise |

Joy Looking at what most of them charge for finding things at Kew, I think I shall have to grow some patience and wait till I can get there myself! Lou |
