eek- do you regard the downloads from Scotlands people as certs - they are really - the info is just copied onto another piece of paper - if that is the case I have over 200 then 'real' certs I have 50+ mainly for husbands side as English certs are only £7 each and Scottish ones are £13 Have bought several Scottish ones as they were not in the date range for the site. I have a list as long as our street of references for others that I still 'need' - and will eventually get.

Hi, I refuse to even estimate. I have an A4 folder full. Gwynne

Jane Report 2 May 2005 08:08

Errm.... yes, well, Gwynne, I'd agree with your 'estimate'. There must be a word for making money out of ancestors - and it's not genealogy! But are we gonna stop buying them, I don't think so! Regs Jane

don't know how many, but between my addicted better half and me, our filing cabinet should be insured!! :) Joy

Hi Jane, Fortunately I shan't have to buy many more as I'm past 1837 on all lines. However, there are a few twigs I'm curious about. If only it wasn't so easy to find the ref and order online.................... When I had to search through the fiche for them I sometimes wouldn't bother with twigs. Gwynne

Oh Gwynne, That just brings more expense - either travelling or photocopying .. or in my case weekends away in the subject location! Maybe we should stick to bourbon creams rather than twig-lets .....?? Obsessed? Nah! Regs Jane

I'm with Gwynne on this one. If I counted them I'd have to start calculating how much I've spent and I refuse to go there! Lou

Sharron Report 2 May 2005 16:07

All I have is my birth certificate.I have always operated on baptism and burial dates as I'm not going to have to get them a birthday present and they would not have hung around long before they were buried as they generally were laid out in the front room.

Irene

Irene Report 2 May 2005 20:59

I had to count them when I saw this thread. 65 I have purchased and others that I have been given copies of. Expensive hobby but I do enjoy it. Not as much money spent on my certificates as my son spends on his golf club annual membership. Irene

Hi Gerri, Last time we had a thread like this, I did count them, and to my horror it was just over 200. This was a quite some time ago, and I refuse to count them this time, as I couldn't resist the urge to multiply the result by £7 plus the many I *had* to order priority at £23, because I 'just couldn't wait that long' for them to come!!?? I will guestimate though, for you: 250-300!? Maybe more! Debbie
