Jess, I've just had a search for Esther Brimmell in 1881 and she is with John Brimmell and Maria. She is named as their niece. Therefore, the family we found in 1871 is more than likely my Archer, but named as son and not nephew. Phew, I think it's time for bed now! |

Jess, I'm so pleased you thought about looking on 1861. I also tried just searching for Augustus and used soundex - weird like you say. Oh well - YOU FOUND THEM!!! |

Hi Jess, I think that is my Archer and he is in fact with his grandparents. Maria was a bit old to have him at 52yrs don't you think? I'm probably wrong though!!! But where is that bugger Augustus? |

Thanks anyway Jane :) I'll wait to see if Jess can come up with anything. I have just noticed someone on here has Augustus Brimmell born 1836, Ledbury so I'm jumping for joy at the moment. I'll contact them and hopefully they may have some info, even if it's just a bit. It will impress my Uncle anyway! Cheers Helen |

I've recently got my Uncle into Genealogy. I spoke to him on the phone earlier and he's hit a brick wall. I offered to help and I've spent the last few hours trying to find the following family in 1871. I have them in 1881, Augustus Brimmell, 45yrs, b Ledbury, Herefordshire, Widower Archer Brimmell, 20yrs, b Ledbury Eleheghes (!!!) 18yrs, b Ledbury Alice, 11yrs b Ledbury Rose, 7yrs b Ledbury. I can't find Augustus, Archer or Alice in 1871. My Uncle really wants to know who Augustus married. I can't find anything on freebmd. I got desperate and looked for a Brimmell death between 1871 and 1881. I found one that could be the one, Hannah Brimmell, 36yrs, 1874, Ledbury. I will have to tell my Uncle to get a birth cert for one of Augustus' children to get the mother's name but I'm just so fustrated I can't find them in 1871. Also, in 1891 they are transcribed as Brimmett and I've also found a possible for Archer in 1871, with his grandparents (although it says son, but they're too old!) surname is transcribed as Brineraell! I'd really appreciate some help and am hoping someone's on here tonight that fancies a challenge! Many Thanks Helen (I can't go to bed until they're found! lol!) |
