Hi Kim - I agree that it is so useful to be able to do this. Saves you having to trawl through everyone in the county on the IGI. I usually get into it by putting 'IGI Hugh Wallis' into Google and there it is!! Because the parishes are listed, it also saves you from looking on the IGI for something that isn't there because all parishes are not covered. The Hugh Wallis list will let you know whether the parish you want is on.

Hi Again Looby! (Long time no hear) After you have clicked onto the numbers in Illogan, there is a little box up in the top right hand corner of the page - where you enter your ancesters surname! Good Luck! Going to work now, but will join you again later

The box is at the top right hand corner of the page. Perhaps if you are putting your rellies surname in and nothing is coming up it is because they are not there. It only works with surnames. Christian names don't work. If you put nothing in the box then search, you should get the whole batch.

Did you also know that once you have found an ancestor you will find a batch number at the bottom of the box, click on that then put in parents names in the right hand box nothing in the left hand box, click search and you will get a list of all the children that belong to those parents. A stunning site. But was hoping for occupations. My ancestors worked in a Whisky Distillery, in Scotland. Perhaps there may be a more appropriate web site out there, more suitable to my needs. Mark

You can also search for unusual middle names - link on the Homepage http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.*com/~hughwallis/ (remove *)

Re: thread above, instead of writing down the batch number and then going to the LDS site and entering it, you can cut and paste: use your mouse to highlight the number, then press control + C for cut. Go to LDS site, get the search form filled in, find the box for batch number and then press control + V to paste the number in the box. nell

Tom My ancesters were called George and Alexander Walker (brothers) They were living in Kilmarnock, Scotland on the 1901 census. So, it must be in my genes, why I like a tot of the old amber liquid. Any Going? (Like it with a spot of water myself) Mark
