Hi Andrea Many thanks for letting me know about the Mymarras site - I have just had a quick look and it is very interesting - nothing like local knowledge. Many thanks Susan Cath Please thank your Mum-in-Law for taking so much trouble and I will indeed watch this space if she comes up with any news. Many thanks Susan |

I've just spoken to my 83yr old Mum in law. She's Sunderland born and bred but can't remember the hall being there but knows there used to be one. She's off to phone her sister who still lives in S/land so watch this space..... |

Susan Have you been on to mymarras? Derek, the webmaster on there has loads (and I mean loads) of historical information about the area. If you put a message on the forum I'm sure that he will be able to help or at least point you in the right direction. Best Wishes Andrea |

Hi A big thank you to everyone for taking the trouble to help me with my search for Deptford Hall - it never ceases to amaze me how kind everyone on this site is. I will definitely follow up the leads you have given me and when I visit Deptford I will visit The King's Arms and raise a glass to you all. Thank you so very much. Susan |

Susan I don't know where Deptford Hall is but Deptford itself is still there - albeit in a very small form. It is on the south side of the river - some old buildings still there and the remains of the shipbuilding industry. Andrea |

Try looking at old-maps.co.uk under Durham and then Deptford. A part of the area is known as Diamond Hall so that may be the connection you are looking for. Much of Deptford has now been cleared although there are two decent pubs - The Kings Arms and The Saltgrass! Bill |

Does anyone know of a place called Deptford Hall in Deptford, Sunderland and does it still exist today? I have tried various internet searches but have not been able to find any information. Susan |
