I would say either she was illegitimate ( and used clayson in 1861) so born Baldock illigitimate, or her father died and her mother re-married. Wish i could find mothers marriage tho!! am looking....!

Hi Jess, thanks for the reply. I would like to find Eliza and her family in 1891 census. I think the Eliza of Barlow St.(1881) is the same as the one in 1901 census except she is down as being born in Matlock. I suppose she could have been born there and the birth registered in Stockport or vice versa. I have found an Eliza Davies born dec quarter 1879 Stockport, I suppose that could be her and she lied about her age on her marriage certificate. That would connect her to the Matlock one as they would have the same father on each certificate. I think I will send for that unless you come up with something thats says its not her.
