Hi Ted Have messaged you direct, but if your Thomas is from my Lee family, I doubt if he was in the workhouse. They all seemed to do moderately well for themselves, and to have kept up family contacts. Tina

sincere thanks to you all for helping me. I knew it would be an impossible task. They, that is he and the rest of his family seems to have disappeared from the 1891 census. Maybe with him having TB he could have gone abroard somewhere for his health. Its a mystery which will resolve itself one day. Thanks again all of you. TED.

This won't really help you, Ted, but in answer to Louise's question about the LDS version of the 1881 census, if you look on the CD-ROMs it will include Scotland but if you look on the website it won't. Kate.

Hi Ted, England and Wales are of one census,,but Scotland has it's own,,and has never been associated with us,,as it has always had it's own Parliment,, It was included in the 1881 census as that was done by the L>D>S.and they got access to the records,, You could try 'ScotlandsPeople 'site it is pay per view'

Hello Ted Yes, the Scotttish census is separate from the England and Wales one. There are 5 Thomas Lee's aged between 35 and 45 on the Scotlandspeople site for 1891 census. Can you give me any further details; like a middle initial, family members likely to be with him or where in Scotland he lived before. Regards. Suzy

Hi all. here it is - My wifes g/g/grandfather THOMAS LEE was a real wanderer in his life. born 1848 Manchester, by 1861 moved to YORKSHIRE, BIRSTALL, by 1871 had moved to LONDON where he got married, them moved to DUNDEE, SCOTLAND, had a couple of sons there, then moved back MANCHESTER, then he came to LPOOL for a year, then moved to SALFORD, then back to MANCHESTER finally to LPOOL, where he had 4 more children. But by 1891 census he had disappeared with 3 of his children, leaving his wife with the rest of the family in LPOOL. Ive searched the 1891 census fully, at least I THINK SO, dont know whether the SCOTTISH, WELCH and IRISH are all included in the one census. He was missing till 1986 when he turned up again in LPOOL when in died of a stroke and TB in the ROYAL INFIRMARY in 1899 October. But where could he have gone with his 3 children during the time he went missing off the 1891 census? Are there seperate indexes for those countries? Any suggestions as to where he could have gone? TED.
