Have been following your thread with the greatest of sympathy ,but have,nt posted as not got any experience to offer. But I do offer my sincere condolences for the loss of your Lucy, Know only too well the heartbreak in losing a beloved pet who was a member of the family. Shirley

Lucy is now buried next to Beau and Connie in the raised garden that that pig desecrated. I know I may upset people putting off topic threads on here, but a lot of you may not look at the General Board and I found this poem which may be of comfort to some of you as it is to me: A poem for all who have lost a loved one: Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigour; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: They miss someone very special to them; who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. YOU have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. Hi TC, As a dog lover myself, I was so sorry to hear the sad news about little Lucy. You couldn't let her suffer anymore, and I know how much you will miss her. I missed the last of your previous thread about the builders, but it seems by marking out with the string that suggests he now believes the boundary to be in its rightful place (at least that part of it anyway). Let's hope you get some peace and quiet for a bit while you are grieving for Lucy. Thinking of you, Kathyx

Hi there, had expected this one to have been removed by GR, so if it happens ..... Nothing much has happened re the pig next door. He seems to be doing all of the building work incorrectly, but goes merrily on his way. Husband a bit peeved that he did everything by the book which cost a lot more time and effort and yet old pig seems to get away with whatever he likes. No news re the last letter, he just stares at me if I go outside or walk round to any of the other neighbours. I shall be getting the paperwork ready for a court case this week. Think of us please. Meanwhile, almost bought a puppy yesterday but decided wrong time, heart ruling head. Will let you know. Probably not on this thread or board though!

So heart-felt sorry about your beloved Lucy. Stupid me, a dog lover of course, sitting here with tears streaming down my face although in my heart of hearts I know you did the right thing by Lucy. Im so surprised this thread hasnt been deleted yet, so I guess I will continue on the general board. Just to say though, today Lucy's old breeder rang me. He knew about Lucy the day she went as I mailed him. Well in March he stopped breeding dogs, said that since he lost his first dog last year - Lucy's dad at nearly 19! his heart was no longer in it. Plus he said he was a bit disillusioned with the dog breeding world (well, a lot disillusioned actually). Anyway, I mailed him yesterday again saying I was thinking of getting a dog from Battersea - he rang this morning, said he hadnt wanted to say anything earlier,but he only had two dogs now and to everyones great surprise (he hadnt intended) on the very day Lucy died the girl gave birth to a little boy. Thats all, one little boy. He had been abroadfor a while and the kennel maid had found her. He has offered him to me for nothing (he used to charge up to four figures when he exported to the US). Not sure what to do - he said he wouldnt be able to show the boy because the mum had tried to pull him by his feet when he was being born and his toes were a bit chewed! Back ones. But he said the vet said that they are fine in all respects as they are healing but he cant show dogs that are scarred even on back toes. What do you reckon guys. He said he wasnt going to say anything until the pup was another few weeks older but he didnt want me going off and getting an older one or something without a lot of thought. Can I manage a puppy?

TC, this is more than coincidence I think :) Although a new puppy is hard work, remember how much fun they are too. I'd say go for it, but only you can decide. Do you think you can cope with a new puppy? I think you would, especially after everything that's gone on lately. Keep us posted :)
