Mother- DINAH PATRICK-born c 1816 Kettering Northants Daughter- SARAH PATRICK- born 1843 Kettering Northants (Sarah may be using the name of Knight) I have traced them in 1841, 1851 at Kettering and 1871 in Birmingham but cannot seem to pick them up in these places in 1861. Hi Debra I wonder if you could do a look up on the 1861 census for me please. William Dye born 1841 born around Pentney Norfolk. (may be labelled as another village near it). In the 1871 census he was living in Hammerwich Staffordshire and was a miner. He married in 1863 so could be in either area. His father was also called William. Thank you Joy

Hello Debra. Hope you can help with some information about my maternal grand father. He was Jack, or John Dalziel , or Jackson,of Bridge Street, Strichen, Scotland. He was born out of wedlock 0n 9th July 1888, to Isabella Dalziel living at Bridge Street Strichen. Is he on the 1891 and 1901 census? Any listing of his Father?? John Ross?? in the same vicinity? My grandfather was called Jack William Jackson when he enlisted in the 1st King's Royal Rifles, and when he married my Grandmother.The marriage was on 2nd July 1921, in Portsmouth, England His name on his birth certificate was changed ,around 1940, to John Ross, hence the guess that his father may have had this name. Thank you very much Deb! That's fascinating & weird, as we never knew her 2nd husband (V.Sheehan) had any family. She married him in 1898, and was widowed for the second time in 1901 as he was killed in the Boer War. My great great grandfather was married to her, but he died in 1897, aged in his early 40s. Now I'll have to try and trace some of those step-relatives! Thanks again, Ian

She was born in County Cork, Eire, and would have been about 42 years old. She had just been widowed for the second time & was doing housekeeping or something. It seems strange that he had a daughter named Lillian, my Grandmother (William Welch's niece) was also called Lilian and born in 1898. Thanks Debra. I've dug out the marriage cert, and have some info about their fathers: George Albert Hawkins' father was George Hawkins, who was a warehouseman. Violet Freeman's father was Charles Freeman, who was a pornbroker's assistant (I think - difficult to read). Does that help?
