LOL Suzanne - it gets that way at times! ;>) Another site that I've found generally useful is 'The Black Sheep Index' at http:??www*.lightage.demon.co.uk It was last upgraded and revised on 17th March this year and contains info on the following - Family History Criminals Police The Great War (WW I) World War II Mining Railways CB >|< |

Looking for Scottish ancestors - look for the death details as the certificate gives loads of information: Name of deceased; Date, time and place of death; age at death; name(s) of spouse(s) and if he/she is dead; Occupation; usual residence; parents names and occupations and whether deceased or not; person registering the death and relationship to the deceased; occasionally the place of burial is given and of course the actual cause of death! From that cert you can work out marriage details, occupation, birth because you know the age, if a child reg. the death etc. I think a lot of people are afraid to use Scotlandspeople because of the cost - £6 for 30 credits, but you see the actual cert and it's saved on your computer, surely that saves money. You can then just order the close family certs if you really want. Thanks for all the tips, I have a lot of 'missing' Scots who are slowly turning up and some are in England or Wales. |

What a great thread Andy, I dont have much to add other than to say Medway Ark has all of Kents Parish records on line for any one who is interested. Also British Origins let you search their databases for 72 hours for around £6, these databases include both the Pallot Marriage Index and the Boyd Marriage Index, as well as more unusal collections like apprenticeships in London and wills and testaments. hope this has been useful to someone |
