Why do you get a birth certificate?

Sorry, guys. I've been out shopping all day, so missed some of your wonderful suggestions. My mother, who appears to have been more adventurous than Dad, went to France in the 1940s. Before she joined the Surrey Police, she worked for a Hospital scheme, a forerunner of BUPA. Everyone paid in their shilling a week to cover the cost of a spell in hospital. So you'd think she'd be clued up about the National Health Service. Unfortunately, not! As for Nell's notion that they were keenly pursuing their family trees..... My father got the SHORT birth certificate! Need I say more?! |
