FreeCEN is a brill idea - Hubby and I did a lot of transcribing for it when it first began - two hours a day each for about nine or ten months - and with a new baby in the house too lol. My son has just turned six, but according to FreeCENS records our pieces are STILL not yet fully checked and online?? Have some records got stuck, do you know?? Sarah |

I am a checker............. i find it a lot easier & quicker than transcribing, its all done on a different program, so transcribers version is infront of you on screen, and you run the disc at the same time and just check their version against the disc, altering as you go along if needed does that make sense ????? i find it very useful for when i've hit brick walls with my research, can get loads done then, but when i'm on a roll it takes a back seat for a while i'm afraid !! Emailed you Mandy Thanks for that info Jane. I did get some info from Carol for the 2 ladies that were interested in checking. Sounds pretty straightforward. It is handy to have something to do when you have a bit of a lull in your research, isn't it? I've just got back from my hols and have lost track of where I was so I've been transcribing the past couple of days. Jeanette x |

Hi Carol Sorry I haven't replied sooner. I have just seen your message. I have a problem with answering that question as I am permanantly connected to the internet with my set-up! I'm sure I didn't have to be online when I first started though. I know Glitter had posed the same question when she first started so I'll drop her a line and ask her to post her reply on the 'FreeCen - I need help #2' thread. Jeanette x |

I've never been able to get that site to work... Tried atleast 10 times over the last year.... The Search Database just freezes, whereas FreeBMD works fine... |
