An Olde Crone Report 15 Aug 2005 00:14

Last week I found William Green, b. 1836, Gawsworth (mistrans. as Gainsworth) on 1881 (LDS). Stupidly, I didnt note him down and he's gone! He was a Furniture Dealer in 1881, I seem to remember. Olde Crone

Nell Er, no, I don't - I initially discounted him as he said he was born in Gainsworth. Later I realised it almost certainly said Gawsworth. Mystery, innit? Glad I'm not the only one who can't find him, thought I was going mad. Thanks for looking. Olde Crone

An Olde Crone Report 15 Aug 2005 00:52

No, it was silly olde Great Great Great Uncle Willy who said he was born in 1833, not me. (I have him baptised in 1836, anyway and no reason to think he was done late.) BUT thankyou all, I really thought I was going mad. I searched births from 1830-1840 and he still didnt come up. That LDS site doesnt like me much. I will now carefully copy down this info as I should have done when I first found it...but didnt! Good night everyone, I shall now sleep in peace, safe in the knowledge that I have repelled the bonds of insanity for at least another day. Olde Crone

Sorry Marji not hijacking but can I ask Nell a question please. Nell, where are your Broads from. My GG grandmother was a Broad from Preston in Dorset. jan xx

Jan From Mawgan in Pydar/St Columb/Little Petherick area of Cornwall. It seems to be a Cornish name. My great grandmother Emma and her 4 sisters all moved away -3 to the London area and one to the Isle of Wight. Elder brother stayed in Cornwall until poor health meant he went to live with youngest girl in Surrey. But there are two boys, George b. 1856 and James b. 1859 who disappear. Last sighting of James is in Mawgan in 1871 and last sighting of George is in Cowbridge, Wales in 1881. I know that James was still alive in 1925 and that George was dead by then. So if you find them while looking for your lot, let me know! nell
