Christine Can't find you leather factory hand, but have Thomas Baker on 1901 East Stockwell St, Colchester as a Steam Engine Brake Fitter - with wife and children, is this the same one? Trudy

on 1901 census at national archives, Thomas is back in Colchester, as a Leather facory hand. There is also a Frederick, but age, according to national census site, is 23. He, too, is in Colchester, as a leather factory hand. Bit of a coincidence. Strange thing is, I can't find them on Ancestry site.

I know, but what if the enumerator confused himself with the two names? It's possible. And since there isn't a birth for anyone called Alfred... except one in 1869.

The births... Birth Dec 1873 Baker Frederick Alfred Colchester 4a 302 no sign of another birth.... I wonder if it's the same guy? The J in 1881 looks more like a T.

Any clue what 'J' stood for, perhaps Alfred would have used this name?

Can anyone find a pair of twins for me: FREDERICK A BAKER and ALFRED J BAKER – I have them on the 1871 with their parents Samuel Lacey Baker and Hannah Baker (nee Baillis) and sisters Louisa and Flora, all at Magdalen Street, Colchester. The boys are stated as both being 7 years old, so presume they are twins, and this makes their birth year 1874. Problem – I can find the rest of the family on the 1891 and 1901 – still in Colchester, but at Military Road, but I can’t find them. Have also looked for a death ref. for either of them during this period but can’t find one either. Anyone any other ideas? Thanks Trudy
