Greeting's Again Elaine.... Sorry.... I've been right through the 1841. Census for the City ( 89.000 Names) No George Ward (Fish monger) found..... The closest is :- Ages are about right and and both names are right and he born outside of County as 1851. Just the occupation ? ..umm. HO 107 / 604 / 14 / Page. 42. Church-gate. Neal's Yard. George Ward. 20. Police Constable. N. Ann. Wife. 25. Y. John. Son. 7 Months old. Y By the way found another Thomas Powell aged 30. Boatman. born within the County Elizabeth 28. born within the County. They are on a boat on the River Soar close to West Bridge... 1841. Census. HO 107/ 605./ 15. / Page. 13. ' Oh Sugerlumps !!! N. Ann Pickering. 18. Female Servant. Y. SAMUEL BERRY. 70. Ag. Lab. Y. William. ??-man.15. Male servant. N. N. = NO Not born within the County. Y. = YES Born within the County. IND. = Living on Independent means. “ Papilion Hall “ is on the right on the main Road ( A4304 ) Out of Lubenham going west to Theddingworth Just after the turning to Marston Trussell. O.S. Landranger maps No.141. Grid Ref. SP 688 869. 1851. INDEX ONLY Census returns Vol. 3. Index No. 426. = Lubenham. BERRY. Samuel. 80. Sorry…… No other details given. Palmer Burials found :- LUBENHAM PALMER JAMES 21 AUG 1828 Aged.. 64 LUBENHAM PALMER MARY 12 FEB 1833 Aged.80 And here’s Samuel & Jane’s Burials :- LUBENHAM BERRY JANE 31 OCT 1831 Aged.63 LUBENHAM BERRY SAMUEL 13 SEP 1858 Aged.87 Marriage found :- James Berry. ~ Mary White. Lubenham. 1805.By Banns. Earlier details will only be found through Parish Records…. Leicesteshire & Rutland Records office. Long Street. Wigston Magna. Leicester LE18 2AH. Tel : 0116 257 1080. Hi Mike, Could you have a look for Samuel Berry in Lubenham in 1841 please - should be about 70; also any parish/general info on Berrys or Palmers (Samuel's wife Jane's maiden name) in Lubenham would be great. Thanks, Michael |

Hi Mike Your a star, going to get to work on looking at this lot you found, thank you very much. The talk was brill. All done in a slide presentation which showed Leicester at various times and compared some scenes to the present. Learnt quite a bit and met Bev in the process, a good week all in all Elaine |

St. Georges Parish Church :- WARD JANE 06 MAY 1842 19. I'm a bit surprised George (Jnr ) is not helping Mother out ? 1861. = RG 9 / 2283./ 61./ Page. 11. Leicester. St. John's Parish. 52. St Albion Street. George (Jnr) & Ann together still Fish Merchant 1871. = RG 10. / 3268./ 65. / Page. 7. No. 40. York Street. Ann Ward. Visitor WIDOW. 57. b Illston Visiting William & Anges Sargent. Looks like a mis translation of place of birth for Ann Illston = Ibstock ? York Street were Harwick Yard is on that 1881. Census. Burial Found Welford road Cemetery :- WARD GEORGE ISAAC 3 DEC 1865 48 SLAWSON STREET SAINT GEORGE U F 12 S 16463 U. =Unconsecrated Ground. F.= Section. 12. = Plot No. S. = Single Interment. 16463. = Burial No. Slawson Street. Is round the Corner from St. Albion Street ( 1861. Census.) And this could well be Ann ? Same Plot No. Welford Road Cemetery :- WARD ANN 23 JUN 1888 74 LEICESTER BOROUGH ASYLUM HUMBERSTONE U F 12 F 62096 F. = Free common plot. The search continues ……… MIKE. |

Whilst trawling through St. Margaret’s Marriages this afternoon at Wigston This one hit me as one of yours But you may already have it ? St. Margaret’s Church. 26th. June.1856. William Warren.32. Bachelor Boatman. Foundry Lane. Father:- Robert Warren. Mary Ann Powell.20. Spinster. Foundry Lane. Father:- Thomas Powell. Both of this Parish. Both have signed in their own name. Witt’s :- Henry Russell. & Eliza Grimms by her cross.X OK….. Have copied your 1841. request down…. So here’s your started for 10……. St. Margaret’s Church. Entry No.404, OCT 8, 1838, by LICENCE GEORGE ISAAC WARD, full age, bach. FISHMONGER, of RUTLAND St, s. of JONAS WARD, FISHMONGER ANN REVELL, full age, sp. SERVANT, of BELGRAVE GATE, d. of WM. Hi Mike Feeling guilty even though you said ask away, mainly because of all the files you are about to look through. Wondered if you would be able to find my Wards 1841, here they are 1851 1851 Census Living at 90 Hotel Street, Leicester George Ward Head M 31 Occupation fishmonger Born Newarke NTT Ann Ward Wife 37 Born Ibstock Lei George Ward Son 7 Scholar Born Leicester William Ward Son 5 Scholar Born Leicester William Peet Serv 18 Occupation Errand Boy Born Leicester James Ward Broth U 19 Occupation Fishmonger Born Newarke Ntt Rebecca East Serv U 13 Occupation Servant born Leicester Ibstock Have no idea of a marriage and can tell you little except I have a gap so far in 1871 for them but Ann is a widow 1881 Elaine |

Did someone mention Mary Hart? I have one who married Edward Carter at Marston Trussell in 1849, with her father's name given as William. Any connection? Others: Knight, Berry, Carter, Palmer in Lubenham. |

Bev I shall be there Thursday with my hubby and when the person at Belgrave hall was taking names and telephone numbers I did a booking for 3 in the end, one for you, as the numbers were at about 20 and I hadn't spotted you, Mike said he would not be able to make it. Bet you heard but in case not it only takes 35 in the room they use and it's £1.50. I wasn't the only one from Nottingham and then there were complaints about people being on shift work not being able to come back.......It was a much nicer atmosphere in the pub, it was great to meet so will try again Thursday.
