Hello All!! Looking for another elusive Butler!! Still haven't found Edwin Henry Butler (born 1868, Leicester) in 1881 - he's not at home with his parents (maybe he snuck off to be with his girlfriend and her parents didn't know he was there????) The surname is given to being misspelt!! In 1861, Edwin Henry's uncle John Thomas Butler is proving elusive and just wondered if any eagle eyes out there could spot him?? In 1851 he is unmarried, aged 16 and living with his brother Edward Henry, sister Jane, mother Jane, and step father Thomas Snaith in Belgrave Gate in Leicester. (He is a carriage trimmer). In 1871 he is shown as John T Buker, married, living with wife Susan (born Exeter) and daughter Jane in Birmingham, he is a coachmaker's trimmer. In 1881 he is married, aged 46 and living with his wife Susan, daughter Jane, son John F O Butler, and Susan's mother Sarah Hepper, in Exeter - he is a coach trimmer. In 1891 he is married, born 1835 and living with his wife Susan, daughter Jane, son Francis O Butler in Taunton - he is a coach trimmer. In 1901 he is widowed, aged 66, living with his daughter Jane in Exeter - he is a coach trimmer. In 1861 he is not married to Susan - have found her at home with her parents - but can't seem to find him anywhere - all thoughts welcome!! Thanks!! |

Hi Mike Thanks for the info Alfred must of been a mummies boy then...lol...and base born child ...i was thinking the worse on that one...even though today it is taken with a pinch of salt i had never heard of that expression before. Looks like im going to have to go down to the records office but be better equipped as i seem to go off of what i am doing when i see an off shoot.Think ill stick with Job for a start as with your help i know he was christened at George Street Primitive methodist church...but on all census he says he is born Enderby and his eldest child Hannah Maria (annie maria) was born Lubbesthorpe which is sandwiched between enderby and Braunstone , so im thinking his father Edward could of been working in that area and he was staying with him ...long shot but trying to tie in Enderby , so if i can get his birth cert might get something im missing, once again thanks for the help warm regards Donna |

Greeting's Again Donna..... On the 1851. INDEX ONLY Census for the County of Leicestershire There is a Job Gamble aged 22. living in the village of Evington It would appear that he was working & living with some other family as there is NO other Gambles with the same index No. 167. Now I know Evington comes under the Billesdon district So Job & Fanny may not have married in the Village of Billesdon as first I thought. But married within the district of Billesdon. ( No Boothaway's in Billesdon Village in 1851.) Newton Harcourt also comes under Billesdon & have found several BOTHEWAY Families there....William & Alice( Née Cook ) & Thomas & Elizabeth. But no Fanny..... MIKE. |

Hi Mike Thanks for answering the other thread still at a loss so am cutting the search down....i am just going to track Job Gamble if possible he was married to Frances/Fanny Boothaway in 1852 Billesdon...there eldest daughter was Hannah Maria(but in some census she is Annie Maria)She was born in Lubbesthorpe in 1854.On IGI Jobs parents are Edward and Elizabeth he is born 3rd Sept 1828 and christened on 22nd Jan 1829 at George Sreet Primitive Methodist Church which i am now assuming is in Leicester.I also have a Ruth Gamble christened 24th March 1826 at the same place with same parents names . do you think Job could be short for another name...thanks for reading Donna |

Hi Mike Was wondering if you had anything for this family group (it's the Wright's in Thurmaston still you found for 1851), it's the difference in William's age that is bugging me, 1811 is the guess by going on the 1851 census but he is down as 53 in 1861 while James who is with him would match 1808 exactly with the ages he has given. William and James are born Belgrave according to 1861, still in Thurmaston Elaine 1. GEORGE WRIGHT - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Christening: 15 FEB 1805 Belgrave, Leicester, England 2. JOHN WRIGHT - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Christening: 28 SEP 1806 Belgrave, Leicester, England 3. WM. WRIGHT - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Christening: 12 JAN 1811 Belgrave, Leicester, England 4. JAMES WRIGHT - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Christening: 31 OCT 1808 Belgrave, Leicester, England 5. SAMUEL WRIGHT - International Genealogical Index 21 Jan 1813 Belgrave Leicester |
