Hi Mike News on my Thomas and multiple birth! The letter came back today and there is not another entry with Thomas. The registrar says ...that this may mean that Thomas was not the only baby at this confinement, but that he was the only one born alive. Stillbirths were not registered at this time. So money back and info into the bargain. The same happened when my mum was born (she was a Moore), she was a twin and the other baby was still born Elaine |

Hi Donna Yes please on my Wright's. Mike found this 1851 Vol. 23. Index No. 667. = South Thurmaston. WRIGHT. William.40. Sarah. 26. Amy. 16. Emily.S. 5. Elizabeth. 5. MARY. E. 2. Camila. 8 Months. Old. and I do know Sarah is Sarah Kirkman. Two of the children were on the IGI although Mary Elizabeth's DOB is 28 Sept 1848, parents names check out 1. MARY ELIZABETH WRIGHT - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Birth: 29 OCT 1848 Thurmaston, Leicester, England 2. EMILY SARAH WRIGHT - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Birth: 30 JUL 1844 Thurmaston, Leicester, England Have found nothing on the other childen and rather think William was married before looking at his age assuming Amy was from a previous marriage. Mary goes on to marry Thomas Moore and they don't marry until they are 21 by which time I have found a Florence Kate dau, born Leicester, with them (not checked out her birth cert yet) and Mary is 6 months pregnant with her son Thomas who is born 1870. William her father is listed as a gamekeeper on her marriage cert but I have not found William and co after 1851 and it appears Mary is not with them 1861, this could be her: RG 9 2281. / 144. / Page 17. Birstall Duncan Street ? Mary. E. Wright Unmar. 12. Gen. Servant. b. Thurmaston. Servant to a Butcher William Willin. Thanks so much for this, can't wait!!! Elaine |

Hi Donna I go straight to http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/default(.)asp remove brackets as usual Order online from there after you register your details and it will be £7.00 for a cert. It's self explanatory from there but there is a thread on the tips board about ordering at the mo so it's worth reading that. This way you get a copy of the original entry and it will tell you how many working days it will be to receive it. Turn over has improved rapidly and you should get them 4-5 working days. I have been very lucky with freebmd otherwise it gets expensive using 1837 0nline so I have a few saved to look up at the records office when I eventually go, I am in Nottingham if anything ever crops up I can help you with here Elaine |

Greeting's Again Elaine..... Yes... I was talking to Mr Goodwin today at the Records Office And he told me that the registrar was most impressed with your letter.... ( Gold Star there then *...lol ) Mr Goodwin went on to say that he thinks there is a register of Still births at GRO.... But he also said that it was not till after 1874 that ALL birth Deaths had to be registered.... So.... If you can hold your horses till I've had a look at the PARISH Burial records for Whitwick next week at Wigston... MIKE. |

Greeting's & Welcome Bruce.. The only way to get the information you require for FREE is to make a visit to Wigston..... If you have dates then it shouldn't take you too long to find them... But the Records Office will be CLOSED Sept 30th. through to 9th October for their Stock Take .... Failing that..... If you post the dates & names on there Or click on my name and send me a message via GR Then I 'll see if I can do the look up's but it will have to be after the Closure now.... MIKE. |
