Hi Robyne I am looking for information on my family. James Martin, born late1780s in County Galloway, his wife Elizabeth born late 1780s Glasgow, Conuty Larnarkshire, they had seven children, John born 29/08/1818 and Norval(?) Douglas born 24/02/1824 as at 1827 and were living at 1 Queens Place Hackeny Road. James was a painter by trade, but had been invalided out of the higlanders or ?5th Regiment of the foot probably in 1815. John emigrated to Adelaide Australia in the late 1840s. We are trying to establish more on all these relatives so if there is any information I would appreciate any detials Thanks Amanda |

Thanks for looking Robyne. Do you have any ideas? He turns up in 1871, 1881, 1891 and 1901 but thats it. I believe his mother Ellen was unmarried when she had him and then went on to marry a Robert Ibbotsen. I think the key to who raised John is in the 1841 census. Cheers Diana |
