Dianne, Thank you, looks set for a good new year getting to know my new family. Suzanne, Hopefully if my gran gets a bit stronger after such a bit opperation my mum will get to meet her, but having pictures of her is more than my mum had hoped for. Mea, Thanks for the info on the flights, have e-mailed it to my husband at work. Nell, I know what you mean about not knowing how things go in the long run for people, thats why I wanted to let you all know whats happening. Will be letting you all know how things go in the New Year. Looking for your Carter/McCarthy's was just what I needed to get my mind off the difficulties I was having finding my mums family at the time. Thank you all for sharing my happiness with me! Fiona. xx |

It's great to share good news as well as the frustrating and sad stuff. I am thrilled with your update and I shall always be grateful to you for finding my Carter-McCarthy people! nell |

Take a look at their web site, maybe you can go home earlier than you thought, you have to book before the 9 Jan 2006., and fly before the 3 April though. A Very tempting offer..... Wishing you and your family A Very Merry Christmas from us out here in Seattle...... Mea. |

Just wanted to let you all know how things are going, I've had 3 very nice e-mails so far from the daughter of one of my mums new sisters. Best of all I now have pictures of my grandmother!!! I printed them out and sent them to my mum, told her she should have got a computer she'd have had them in seconds and not days. It is wonderful that my mum will at last be able to see what her mother looked like. Have also received pictures of my mums 3 sisters and brother. The family just keeps growing. I've sorted what pictures I had of my mum and e-mailed them to my mums new niece and also sent some of my brother and sisters and one of my 4 children together. Today I got a Christmas card and a very think letter from my mums eldest sister, for a while I looked at the Christmas card trying to work out who it was from, guess I wasn't expecting a card and letter just yet. How wonderful it was though, brought tears to my eyes! She also included a picture of my grandmother and her husband and also a very lovely picture of herself. My new family seem to be very nice caring people and from the letter I got today my mums sister sounds wonderful, she is also a bit annoyed at the family keeping from her what they knew of her sister for so many years but is looking forward to getting to know my mum and the rest of the family. It's going to be a great Christmas and looks like the New Year could be the best ever getting to know my new family! If I can stop crying long enough to enjoy it that is, I am so happy!! Merry Christmas to you all and I wish all of you the best New Year ever!!! Fiona. xx |

Thank you all for your kind words and surport, It feels so great to know so may people are behind me. It has been hard but I am now starting to feel as though it has been worth it. I will of course keep you in touch with how things are going. I am just about to write to my new family again and tell them all about my mum, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren!! The e-mail I had from them said that my mums mother had 12 grandchildren from her other 4 children. They will be able to add another 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren from my mum to that. I've just realised we now have 5 generations still living to our family.............how wonderful!!! Fiona. xx |

Hi Fiona, Have just read this whole thread and can't imagine how you are all feeling right at the moment, I'm sure there are many mixed emotions. You must keep us informed on the outcome- I'm so looking forward to the next instalment and wish you all the best as you tackle what's ahead. It's so sad that you and your mum have been deprived of a nan and a mum but at least you have now found her. I'm sure you will deal with the way forward as sensibly as you have done so far -what an amazing story! Love, Aileenxx |

Hi Fiona, Just came across this thread and wanted to add to it so I can find it again. What an amazing story. I do hope it has an even happier ending. Your grandmother will have lived with this throughout her life. She may have been hoping all these years that she would find her daughter again. Is she is in good health? She might be able to cope if it is broken to her bit by bit. Hope everything goes well. Rose |

Hi Fiona, Just read the thread, well what a roller coaster of emotions you and your Mum have experienced recently,(not sure how I would have dealt with a situation like this). Im really happy that things are working out for you all. You have with out doubt handled the situation very sensitively, Im pleased You and your Mum have been fortunate enough to gain some knowledge about the past and she deffinately deserves to know the truth about what 'really' happened to her Mother and of course your nan! Well done Fiona on your findings! Very best wishes to you all. Lib :)) xxxx |
