I don't mind the new font and layout, but had hoped they might have also corrected things that don't work! The civil reg info 1983-2002 doesn't work correctly (if you refine your search it will ALWAYS say there are no matches!!). Unfortunately, this is still the case after this update! Merry |

Hi - Is it sunny in Essex today? I think your Cookies thingy will work...... Hubby now (NOW Ggggrrrr) tells me he deleted cookies (or whatever you call it) after I went to bed last night, so that is why everything was working today........ and I had thought it was a miracle! Merry |

Merry I quote 'OR......if you mean AFTER you have requested a search on the civil reg and you have been given (say) 5000 results, there should be a box under neath the first set of results that is headed ''Refine your search of the England and Wales, Civil Registration Index: 1837-1983''. The box under this heading was missing for me yesterday (after the Ancestry update), but after I had slept on it, the box appeared this morning! ' Yes that's exactly it mate! no bleedin box anywhere :( Kath x |

For the civil reg bit, are you refering to the first box that comes up after you click on ''England and Wales, Civil Registration Index'' on the front page? If yes - and it only shows the spaces for the forenames, surnames and spelling (exact/soundex)....you need to click on the ''Show Advanced Search Options'' at the bottom of the box. OR......if you mean AFTER you have requested a search on the civil reg and you have been given (say) 5000 results, there should be a box under neath the first set of results that is headed ''Refine your search of the England and Wales, Civil Registration Index: 1837-1983''. I haven't noticed any difference with the BMD search except for change in the font. As far as I know you can still specify what you are looking for as before. Kate. |

Well what can i say went onto ancestry yesterday and they have changed it :( Don't like it at all and now when you want to look up a BMD on the index you cannot narrow down the search. No longer can you put it if you want a birth, death or marriage or can you put a year of event I have just had to go through over a thousand entry's to get to a marriage that occured in 1895 in Nottingham What a pain in the posterior I will be complaining to Ancestry Why fix what wasn't broke in the first place Kath x |
