Hi Brenda I tried sending a message directly to you but got an error message, so I hope you see this. I went down Rush Hill yesterday but all the houses had high numbers. It is part of Frome Road so the houses may have been re numbered at some stage. It is a mix of old & new properties with a few cottages among them. Sorry I cannot be much help but if you want anything else just let me know & I'll try. Pat |

Brenda I live near Bath & went down Rush Hill yesterday. The Parish Church is St Philip & St James & is not far from the roundabout at Odd Down at the top of Wellsway. A lot of traffic disruption as they are buildinga roundabout half way down the hill. There are some cottages on the main road, I shall be going again soon as my husband is in hospital in Bath & I can go that way. I'll see what I can see & let you know. Pat |

hello Anne thankyou for info. My Mercy was born 1839 in Clutton daughter of John Mellish & Rachael Gould. Rachael died in 1840 and as Mercy was the last in a longgg line of children I assume she was given away. I only have her on the 1871 census with my John Oram, they married in 1870. Mercys gran was a Sarah Mellish and grandad John. thanks for your interest brenda x |

Do you have any dates for Mercy. My Somerset Coalfield connection site gives a Melish family living in Clutton but I can't find Mercy. Clutton was part of the Somerset Coalfield and is very well documented. Bedminster is part of Bristol. The registration district of Bedminster covers a large area. Walcott is a district of Bath. |

Brenda Only just switched on and saw your message, Rush Hill is on the outskirts of Bath and as far as I know 2 still exists, they are small cotages in that road. I had a relative that lived close by in Rush Hill and I grew up in Bath so know it well. A nice side of Bath to live. As someone has already said the Bath BMD site is on line and they have a lot of births and marriages on there but as yet no deaths. Hope this helps Liz |

Thanks Esta I just assumed, have googled the church, one in Brislington which still stands and one in Barton now demolished. The marriage cert I have reads ' the parish church in the parish of st luke Bedminster' so i'm guessing its the Barton one? My gt grandfathers residence at the time of this marriage ws Bedminster and his wifes Walcot. I am getting so confused with all the counties. Is Bath in somerset then? hopeless arent I brenda x |

Looks, according to Auto Route that Rush hill still exists, its not in the centre of Bath though. Its kind of out on the left hand side, (should i say West!!)near a village called Englishcombe. |
