Jean I followed Teresa's lead by going to the www.familysearch.org site and finding the Lagdon family. Then I just clicked on 'Next household' until I got there - it looked a possibility as a mistranscription - since you hadn't found Edward under his real name, he was obviously mistranscribed. nell |

Jess, Your long shot was right that is the family in 1861. Nell, You found them too in 1881. How do you all do this? I scrabble about for months and nothing turns up. You lot take 5 minutes and get them on every census. Do you give lessons? Jean x. |

Fiona, That's them. Mistranscribed. Thanks so much. Thanks all you lovely people. I have been looking for them for weeks and weeks on the 1881. Even put in just first names and nothing likely came up. Saw the marriage certificate today and thought I'd try to find by address and BINGO> Knew I could rely on the peeps on here. Jean x. |

On 1871 census family lived at 96 Wick Street, Homerton, Hackney. Father John Shillum died in Jan 1881 so that would leave >: Eliza Shillum who would be a widow born 1828 in Clerkenwell. Edward Shillum born 1856 Shoreditch Frederick Charles Shillum born 1859 Shoreditch Ann Shullum born 1864 Hackney. |

Have just searched for all Edwards in Homerton - nothing for Church Street. When and where was Edward born and do you know of any family members who might be living at the same address? nell |

Is there a way to do an address search on the 1881 census? I would like to know who was living at 81 Church Street, Homerton, Hackney. The name should be Shillum but although I have tried every combination I can think of the family are proving very elusive. Marriage certificate seen today shows that address on the marriage of Edward Shillum on 25.12.1881. Fingers crossed. Thank you. |
