You are a very generous person then Alter...... and I'm not saying Mary didn't do the search.....just that there are some people on the baords who don't realise that when Ancestry says ''1837-1982'' it doesn't say what it means!!! :o)) Merry

Looking for missing persons........... TAKE THE LINE OF LEAST RESISTANCE (1) Males are easier to track, because their surname doesnt change. (2) Use the less common names. (3) Most recent information is most useful. Result>>>Ryman is less common a name than Danby, -------------------------------------------------------- THE ESTABLISHING OF FACTS (1) donald Ryman (virgo) born OND 1920 Horsham 2b 542 (2) No beryl danby born england or wales 1919/.20/.21 (3) donald ryman not registered as death 1983-2003 in england ,wales or in any country 1965-2005 in the IGI. (4) nobody by the name of beryl ryman died 1983-2003,in england or wales./one death on IGI in USA-but born 1906!!

youd be surprised merry, ive spend upwards of £30 on individual searches before and theyve disappeared!! ive just spent £8 on a search for someone yesterday on these boards-but i'm very selective as to the circumstances.

Merry Report 2 Oct 2005 09:02

A couple of messages back, Mary said: ''can find no death ref.for either between 1964 and 1993 in England or Wales.'' I accept there are no deaths 1983-2001 (Eng/Wales) as those records are searchable on Ancestry and 1837online. However, I'm doubtful that Mary has searched 1964-1982 for you on 1837online, unless she is a rich lady with time on her hands!! (would cost about £8) Apologies to Mary if she has done this!! Good Luck Merry

A search for the daughter getting married would be the better road, You may find her in a 5 years search.1969 to 1974/5 kay.

Corinna.........a few things. Surely your granda must know his date of birth. If not,if you get the cert,it will tell you. >>>>with that you can match up any deaths recorded if that is the case. ...if he did die in this country and hadnt changed his name,he did so from the last time he was seen till 1983.I have checked after this for ryman, and there are none at all that fit in any way. ....LONGSHOTS looked in OZ-2 matches for a D RYMAN only...none in New Zealand.....2 in USA aged 75,and 76. If you want to check for deaths 1964>1984 you need to check each quarter on the 1837 site-that'll cost 40p ayear=£8.

hi Corrina, don't know if this is useful: old-maps gives Border in Cumberland 1868 OS map; grid ref. 316500,554500. Multi-Map doesn't show Border today but grid ref. puts it near Silloth on the Solway Firth. regards julian

Ok so I saw my grandad today and he said he is almost positive that Donald and Beryl married in Horsham, West sussex. i am assuming it would either be at st,marys parish or the registry office. not sure what they did in the 40s if they were in the army. he is going to try and locate it. will the registry office in horsham be able to help him or will he have to send off the info? as we are after another marriage cert for his grand parents on his mother side aswell (we know all the info for that one though!) corrina

OHHH never thought of that actually. that could explain it. I havent a clue if my grandfather knows anything of the wedding. i have pics of his other brother marriage (he also went missing for many years but turned up just before he died! seems to be family tradition!) he would be about 85 now, as would beryl. cant understand why I cant find any traces of them any where though. hmmm bit more digging needed. I will see my grandfather later on today, so will place him under lamp till him tells me all he knows. where is detective frost when you need him! all the best Corrina

Thanks all so much for your repllies, The thing that bothers me the most is I can find no ref to Donald Ryman and Beryl Danbys marriage. I found Janines birth which was 1950. (however my paperwork has just colapsed on the floor and now needs sorting into dates again so cant recall where she was born although i believe it to be in the liverpool area) I wondered if Beryl may have passed away and Donald remarried Or vice versa, Or infact they seperated and remarried. I really dont know where to go with this now. I found 2 donald rymans who i have written to but neither are the correct one as their ages do not match. I know he was born in horsham and lived in the causeway horsham for a time as a child. Can anyone else offer some solutions or clues??? all the best Corrina

I am desperatly seeking information on a DONALD RYMAN married to BERYL DANBY born.c.1920, they had a daughter JANINE b.1950 Don lived in carlisle for a while and dissapeared in approx 1964, the last words he said as he left my grandfathers house were 'we'll see you soon' No one ever heard from him again. Does anyone have access to any records of newspapers of that time from the west sussex area where he was visiting, as I have pondered on whether they may have been in a car accident of some kind?? His date of birth is c. 1920 in Horsham West sussex to BENJAMIN AND LILIAN RYMAN. My grandfather (his brother PETER RYMAN) desperatly needs to find him for family reasons. If any one can help please email me as i do not visit site very often. I have put a message on the trying to find board but to no avail. PLEASE PLEASE anyone with ANY info dont hesitate to help. THANK YOU ALL CORRINA
