Try the general board. There's a thread telling you how to find 1851 proper, not just samples. :0) Joan |

Hiss, boo, Jess! Where's my Adams Edwards, then? Where's his brother Ernest, who I know I found on the film? Aaargh. Are they teasing us with most of it? |

http://www.1851-census(.)co.uk/ Is the site, removing brackets. The index is free, but currently you can only do ranked, rather than exact searches. You have to pay to get the actual reference or to see the image. |

Abbess, I've been doing Exact searches since yesterday afternoon..... After you have got your first list of results, scroll down to ''Refine your search of the 1851 England Census'' and click on the ''Exaxt Search'' tab. You can then continue with exact matches until you exit the site. You have to do the same again next time you come back in.......... Merry |

June Notts - 274,000 people Lincs - 410,000 people If you post the numbers you have, I'll see if I can find them..... Karen (and June??) Here is a message I have been copying any pasting to a few people who said they were stuck.......so am putting it here too!! (thanks mainly to Tracy from Teeside, who posted this first:). Up to now all those I have sent it too have found they can get in and use the site (or are they just being polite?? lol) 1) Go into Ancestry.co.uk and sign on as usual. Don't close the program, but shrink it down...... 2) Open the website: http://www.1851-census(.)co.uk/ (remove brackets) 3) Type a name into the two boxes along side the orange box that says, ''Search the 1851 census''. Click ''Search'' over on the right hand side....... 4) You should get a list of results which will be sorted on ''Ranked Search Results''. If you don't like the Ranked Results, scroll down to the bottom and click on the Exact Search tab on the top of the ''Refine your search of the 1851 England Census''. Then repeat your search..... Good Luck Merry |
