Jess LOL! And before you know it, you've knitted a jumper with three arms and no neckhole...... Merry A thought occurs to me (duck, everyone) about your man's missing Will. I went on a merry (oops, no pun intended) chase after a Nathan. I thought I found him as Nathaniel, a reasonable supposition, but couldnt find the baptism, very odd. Eventually, after much huffing and puffing, found that he had been baptised as Jonathan, and his Will was filed as John!!! Olde Crone

Yvonne - I don't know whereabouts :O(( His grandson wrote his memoirs when he was aged 70ish. He said he lived with his paternal grandparents in Hemel Hempstead after his mum died when he was 2, but by the time he was 12 both his grandparents had died, so he moved on...... Pity he didn't say which grandparent died first or exactly when, whilst he was about it!! GGGGRRRR!! There's no burial for the grandparents in HH, nor for their son who died in Kempston between may 1765 and Feb 1766 and is described as ''of Kempston'' in his will and in the probate. Alian abduction of his body?? His wife wasn't buried either (1750)........Where did they PUT all these people???? Merry

Hi Merry Not done much work on mine yet to be honest...lots of skeletons falling out of closets and noone wants to talk about them and help me out! Mine start in Cheshire/Lancashire (Mum b1938, her father 1902 and his father 1855). Not got any further back than that BUT...2 of ggrandfather's brothers married women from Cambs so there may be a link to the area the further I dig! Lou x

Merry Do be careful saying you are bored, otherwise I might have to throw The Mysterious John James Holden at you!!! Otherwise, you could do what I do most of the time, which is read the threads and chortle away to myself as all you valiant looker-uppers try to knit with fog! Its been rather a week for it, don't you think? Olde Crone

Don't envy you house buying etc! Me......Just tired....organising funeral for Monday for my aunt who died last week. Not hard work, but constant thoughts of if I've forgotten anything (bet I have lol)....... Took kids swimming this pm so feeling heroic about that as I HATE water....unless it has an association with grape juice and is fermented! Should have been doing my tree - papers still sitting there looking at me! Found a bigamous marriage on hubby's tree today.......glad I married him really - he has lots more scandal in his tree than I do lol Merry

Merry Report 15 Oct 2005 23:51

TV - I've forgotten what that is, Hippo!! ....Oh the box I secretly sit the kids in front of when i want to look on here??!! Nell - Genuki! Glad you found something useful......... Maybe I should ask everyone in the country to look at their local RO for the will of my 5xg-grandfather??? I know he wrote one, but no one knows where it is and the likely places will not admit to anything having gone missing/taken for alien research etc He was Nathan MAYNARD died definitely before 1765 and likely about 1758 and definitely after 1748. Supposed to have lived at Hemel Hempstead, Herts. His son's will mentions the father's one......Ggggrrrrrrr Have been looking for it for about 12 years on and off.. Large PRIZE to anyone who can find it!!! No, you won't be able to fabricate it, as the son's will tells me what it says in part.....and you don't know the son's name do you!!??? Merry

I'm here...just got in from uncle's 70th b/day party which I thought was going to be terminally dull but was actually quite a giggle. The kids held the entire room as a captive audience and have gone to bed in their t-shirts cos they fell asleep in the car on the way home! Lou x

Merry Sorry! I've been looking at GENUKI. I started looking at a neglected branch of the family from Chedworth, Glos again and went to the Chedworth page - boy am I glad I did! I've found a burial for a relly, which also tells me he was a member of the Congregational Chapel, AND another two rellies listed on 1843 tithe map, together with the names of their landlords, plus other bits and pieces. nell
