At the end of the day, the number of names on the site was never a consideration to whether I joined or not. I paid my membership fee mainly for the help of all the lovely people on the message boards! Sam x |

Its long been suspected that the number of genuine ancestors on this site falls well below the number claimed by the site once you've weeded out the records you mention along with the Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck etc entries. But 45 million records sounds so much better than 1 million or whatever the real figure is and makes the site far more valuable which seems to be an important factor to them right now |

Hi all just had a bored few minitues so I did a couple of name searches and the claim of 45 million records on this site could do with being knocked down a few notches. Dida search for Forename unknown Surname unknown, this came up with 606518 matches. Then did Surname unknown that came up with 1192721 matches Then did a search for (mother) and came up with 884637 matches Then did a search for (father) this resulted in 484789 matches Which is a total of 316,8665 records, getting on for a 1/3 of a million dodgy records, time for a recount me thinks |
