Jeanette, I thought the 50 year old in 1851 was recorded as unmarried.....but surely that MUSt be her?????? Married to John Heaps. Why do you say the name is wrong?? It's right surely??? Where did you find that?? I don't recognise the format??

That's a good point about Elliah - thanks Jess! No luck with Elias after this until 1881 when he is living in the same field as Alfred. After that he settles down into bricks and mortar! Alfred is on every census. John is on 1861 (haven't looked after that as it's Elias who is direct line) Can't find mum (ie the 50 year-old unmarried daughter in 1851) anywhere else, but goodness knows how she might have been recorded!! Deliah has vanished too after 1851 - she was my only hope for finding her mum again, if they both lived :O(( Merry

It looks like Cinament to me. I disagree about Mercy - it is Henry. Carole

Hi Merry Not sure on this at all – the names I can make out are Alfred, Henry, John, what looks liked Goliah (I presume this is your Elias) and Deliah – looking at the handwriting it just makes the oldest daughters name even more unreadable!!!!!!!! Does she appear on the 1861 or are there any family names that it could be? It’s got me stumped – sorry. Looby

The 11 year old reads Elliah- its close...! Gawd know what the daughter should be looking again........... looking at page before, top, ennumerators C is 'twiddly' and looks as thought it is followed by an e, which Carlton clealy isnt,

Hello All.......We are doing a tree for our rather posh neighbour (wife of a judge, no less!!). Turns out she is from gypsie stock!! Can anyone read this census page? HO107/2122, Folio: 292, Page: 35. Family named Heaps. I can see Lucy. What's her daughter's name? I can tell there's some dodgy handwriting (or dodgy hearing of names)as the 11 year old should read ''Elias'' which it clearly doesn't!! ....None of the family have any registrations until 1875 (not even deaths). Happy Hunting - Merry x
