I am on a roll with the family of my 7 x GGM, Amy Lawton - found nearly 70 rellies and I entered three (!) on my tree yesterday. Today I had an email from a wonderful lady, who has sent me about 200 directly-related rellies (backwards), giving me, I think, my 11 x GGPs. It is all authenticated info. Question: When does one decently stop? My 11 x GGPs and their descendants are so distantly related to me...can I really feel any connection with them? (Even though I do, am I just kidding myself?) But how do I stop?! Olde Crone |

There is no known cure. Mind you, there can be other reasons for going sideways - but who cares, it's christmas, pass the bottle! Tina |

I think you will only stop when you cease to mutter 'I wonder if...' and scratch you head |

LOL! That's just how I feel! I am soon going to be related to everyone else on this planet, at this rate. Well, no, not strictly true, these wonderful rellies of mine are all from one small village, didnt budge for 400 years, bless em....but this new lot have brought me yet more Rathbones - the Rathbones are in every branch of my tree!!! Surely you are going backwards, not sideways, if you have arrived at 11xggpts?? Are you going to tell us about them??? I am waiting to go to bed :o)) Merry |

My main project is an ancestral chart, but going sideways as an extra has sometimes paid dividends... I found sisters staying with grandmother in an early census. Wouldn't have found that generation's name without knowing who the sisters were! Christine |

Well let this be a warning then - you are going to find yours related to the much discussed Ada ..... She was samuel Rathbone mellors daughter , just in case it had slipped anyones mind When when she had started to slip my mind! |

So, what is this Board for, if its not for showing off?? It is about time I got a break like this as I have sweated blood and tears over my main line, the stinky hidey-Holdens, five years intensive searching cannot get me back further than 1859!!! Yes, its the posh Rathbones again,( but before they got posh, lol, I get to see them in their muck). This wonderful tree I have been sent dating back to my ELEVEN TIMES GREAT GRANDPARENTS (shouting in case those at the back didnt hear) shows how (worryingly) few genes there are in my gene pool - more of a gene puddle, really. The local families intermarried over and over again. There is also a clue here to my elusive 3 x Thomas Green - he lived, he breathed - but where is his ruddy baptism and just who was his mother? The Green's Farm is mentioned, just after my lot decamped for the delights of the Manchester Slums and I am hoping I will get sight of the Land Transfer papers, which might give me a clue! Sorry, I'm wittering with excitement - but so glad no one thinks its indecent to go back 12 generations! Olde Crone |

My 11 x GGPs were born in 1568 and 1570...they might be my 12 x actually, I am too excited to do the sums properly! Olde Crone (sharpening pencil lighting a candle and setting in for a long night of chart-drawing....) |
