Just an FYI, Alter Ego, the Ad-Aware is not a virus detecor/remover. Ad-aware targets SPYWARE and ADWARE (not viruses and trojans) so that program you should have.....or a better, free one, if you have Windows XP, would be Microsoft's Anti-Spyware (Beta) program. Judy |

Hello, Why not see if A² (A Squared) can remove your trojan. There is a paid for version and a free version - it's very good and often finds and removes stuff that other programmes don't. http://www(.)emsisoft(.)com/en/software/free/ Cheers, Horatia |

If it listed 8 viruses found and deleted that's a start. Panda Scan free only detects SpyWare. Have you ran a full scan with undated Ad-Aware? I would also recommend Microsoft's Anti Spyware. What exactly are the Alarms? Bob |

Ive lowered the avast sensitivity-it allowed me then to use panda scan-it detected about 8 viruses, and 30 odd spyware ,the viruses where listed as disinfected, but the spyware not, saved report etc.then I put avast back to high, but the alarms are still coming on,and I keep hanving to sign in on this site |

Sorry been out. When you get the message there should be a grey bar at the top, click on this an allow install. This is a security meassure in SP2, it's ok on trustworthy sites. Shutdown Avast ( right click on the blue ' A' icon in the task bar and 'stop on access protection') turn back on when panda finished, scan my computer. Record what it finds. Bob |

As Judy says this may require identifying each trogan and using a tool for each. I would try the online scanners first http://www.pandasoftware(.)com/products/activescan.htm Panda is a reputable company and claim it 'Disinfects viruses, worms and Trojans' I have used it for some time. If it can't remove them it should list them. You should turn off Avast while scanning and just let it run. It needs to run under Internet Explorer. You get into safe mode by pressing F8 before Windows starts.(not for panda, for removal tools) Bob |

Alter, I think that XP automatically sets a restore point when you boot up. This function may need to be switched off (temporarily) in order to ensure safe AND permanent removal. No doubt Judy will be able to advise. Pete |

Try starting the PC in SAFE MODE and then rescanning the PC with your anti-virus. Because the Trojan is a running program your anti-virus may have difficulty removing it. You could also, if your anti-virus still has difficulty removing the Trojan and if you know the name of the Trojan, try googling the Trojan name and see if there is a removal tool available. Download the removal tool, install it and again, restart the PC in SAFE MODE and then attempt the fix. Judy |

Got Trogan horses-Avast system keeps saying caution, advises MOVE TO CHEST,but nothing is happening, and now Ive got SUSPICIOUS MESSAGE panel which is stopping me seeing the middle of the screen, its listing emails between 2 parties with Continue and Dont send options. Internet Explorer is usuable obviously but Outlook Express has changed to an inbox panel that Ive never seen before. Any help would be greatfully recieved-nervous about going onto sites that have sensitive account no.s and passwords. |
