I'm cross that George has vanished in 1881!! It might just be that he was missed out of his step-mother's household. The enumerator would have been copying from the householders record sheet onto his census page that we can view on Ancestry.......how easy would it be to miss someone?? (they were supposed to count up everyone and check against the completed district, but I expect some enumerators were more conscientious than others!!) Merry

Merry I think you could well be right about deaths, I have spoken with other family members and they think both Alfred and Catherine died early and Amy Kate raised George. I know George did survive because he is the father of my grandad. Thank you again for your help it is very much appreciated, I was aout to give up! Jo xx

Hiya Merry You are heaven sent, you are very helpful may I say thank you. But I am very confused... It doesn't take much. ha ha On that last info you added the date of birth doesn't tally with your first entry does it? do you think it is the same person? You may be very right about Catherine dying and Albert remarrying, but on George's birth cert in 1874 she was his mother and they lived in Plumstead then, 7 Maxey Road it says on his birth cert. I hope you can continue to help me. Regards Jo xx

It's very strange.....in 1871 they were living in Plumstead, Kent.....but Amy wasn't born there. However, in 1881 surely this could be Amy Kate???? Says born Plumstead, but is that an error...???Are you sure Catherine didn't die......Alfred/Albert married again and them he died???? But where is George? (do you know that he lived??) 1881 Alfred Chas. Davies abt 1877 Woolwich, Kent, England Son 18 Lr Harden St, Woolwich, London, England >>>>Amy Kate Davies abt 1871 Plumstead, Kent, England Step Daughter 18 Lr Harden St, Woolwich, London, England Arthur T. Davies abt 1881 Woolwich, Kent, England Son 18 Lr Harden St, Woolwich, London, England Eliza Davies abt 1859 Chelsea, Middlesex, England Head 18 Lr Harden St, Woolwich, London, England Eliza Rosina Davies abt 1879 Woolwich, Kent, England Daughter 18 Lr Harden St, Woolwich, London, England James Parker abt 1856 Woolwich, Kent, England Lodger 18 Lr Harden St, Woolwich, London, England William Smith abt 1865 Westminster, Middlesex, England Brother 18 Lr Harden St, Woolwich, London, England Merry

Can anyone please help me, I have hit a BRICKWALL and cannot get through it!! I am looking for Albert Davis in Kent, I have looked on 1881 census and I cant find anything. I am not sure of his date of birth, or where he was born. What I do know is that he married a Catherine Baker in Holborn London in 1867 they had one child in 1870 Amy Kate Davis and then had another child George James Davis in 1874 in Plumstead Kent. I believe they may have had more children after but I am not sure. If anyone can please help me with any information I would be very grateful. Many Thanks as I wait in anticipation. Jo xx
