Sorry Veronica but that's not correct. UPDATE Apologies have just read the other thread which is discussing this very issue BUT Taken from 1837 FAQS: how complete are the indexes for BMD nationwide which you are offering? We offer the entire copy of indexes of births, marriages and deaths for England and Wales from 1837 to 2003. However, the overseas records are incomplete as registration was not compulsory for British nationals abroad. What I cannot understand is that Ancestry publishes Free BMD transcriptions on their site, so how all of a sudden do they have the whole transcrption when Free BMD doesn't? Where did they get it from? Kat |

I have the 'basic' annual subscription and have e.mailed Ancestry with a very simple question..... 'With the 'package' I have with you will I be able to fully access the UK 1841 Census and the full BMD indexes (including images) when they come online later this year? Thank you in anticipation of your response in this matter.' I have been promised a response within 24 hours so i'll let you know... :)))) Chris |

Pass the credit card! Just upgraded mine - They gave me £41.95 refund then a full year membership on the de luxe package. So how do they refund the rest of your old sub - straight into your credit card account? Theyve just emailed saying that Im getting a free month - nice. But still no word of how they refund the dosh? |

Found via google Fact: The OneWorldTree service is a search service, not a database subscription. The $49.95 annual subscription fee ($39.95 upgrade from the U.S. Records Collection subscription) pays for access to an advanced search feature that matches data from the free family trees and that found in other Ancestry databases, including their subscription records, and presents it to the subscriber in a neatly stitched together package. It will let you view all the relatives of the person you have found in pedigree format and will provide links to the source records - family trees, census records, etc. These source records, however, will still be accessed in the way that they are now. You'll need a subscription to Ancestry to view any census or other records included in their subscription collections. And the family trees which are turned up by the OneWorldTree are still free to search, match and submit through the free Ancestry World Tree service using the same tools that have always been part of the program. What your subscription to OneWorldTree will be paying for is convenience, not records - it is supposed to help take the guesswork out of searching and matching. |

Oh I see! So you have to close your existing sub and open a new one as they can't automatically change you over. Right. Thanks for clearing that up. I have about £50 left on my old sub as I only had it recently, so actually what you are saying is, for £19 (£69 -£50) I will get 13 months? Claire xx (scurries off to find credit card) |

Great news! I've been griping about this since I joined Ancestry, as they gave the impression that they had all this info when I signed up. Was extremely peeved to find they didn't after coughing up all that money! Thanks for letting us know! Cheers Allie |

okay - I've been asked to write a piece on online records availability for one of the Scottish papers on the back of WDYTYA so I've emailed ancestry officially and asked for clarification of exactly who gets what and what it should cost them - so I'll let you know when I do Z |

O.K. I have the 'standard' UK collection so I've typed in the name Smith into the search facility and the only records I can't access are as follows: Passenger and Immigration Lists Index, 1500s-1900s Dutch Immigrants to America, 1820-1880 United States Obituary Collection OneWorldTree and finally, A true register of all christeninges, mariages, and burialles in the parishe of St. James, Clarkenwell I think that the 'Deluxe' sounds like it is just an upgrade of the name as opposed to an upgrade of the info. |

Hi Claire Scary. I do still have access to the stuff I know I've already used, but this upgrade thing is worrying me now. The upgrade info on the 'my account' page just says 'special pricing' for an annual sub. Have you noticed how much it works out as, if you pay monthly? Did you see that thread about the Class Action last week? Some guy sued because they hadn't told him the monthly sub was more expensive than the annual one. (typical... I'd expect a discount for paying a lot of dosh up front) Anyway, if its going to cost me over £100 just to access the 1841, I will seriously have to reconsider. |

Right. Just had a look at the search I did yesterday and the things I can't get without upgrading are the family histories like Leicestershire marriage licenses and calendars of wills. I certainly hope I won't have to upgrade to get hold of the 1841 census. That was half the reason I signed up seeing as I have a lot of census' on CD already! Claire xx |

I just looked at the 'my account' option, to see whether it had any info. Apparently all that is offered now (annual) is UK deluxe or World deluxe. So apparently we should have everything on the UK side already. So far I haven't found anything its asked me to pay extra for, outside of the USA census stuff & immigration lists I've been trying to view. (Can do searches on USA stuff logging into Ancestry*com not Ancestry*co*uk) |
