paul, that is available on the uk site to, what we are talking about is the compleat list including the years from 1910 which is not available at the moment |

'The description on Ancestry states that it contains approx 50% of the names between 1837 and 1982 (the graphs on FreeBMD show actuals by year). From 1984 it is only Births and Marriages.' The post-1984 Death Index is also on Ancestry. It can be very useful because you can often find the date of birth for people born in the first part of the 20th Century. MB |

If you read the original message on page one you'll find the thread was started to discuss the fact that ancestry intend to make available from 18th January the complete BMD from 1837 to present. That's not the same as their current BMD which is the freeBMD indexes and the set starting in the 1980s. Zoe |

Zoe, sorry to repeat myself but I can't see that they will be offering a searchable index. There isn't one, thats what freebmd are doing. I can only see that they will have the images like 1837. Bob |

Robert that's what I had assumed (the same pages as 1837) but as they were plugging it as they would be the 'only website' to have this index we came to the conclusion there would be a fully searchable index. I'm still waitinng for a response to my enquiry for my news piece so I cant confirm that this is what they'll put up - the press release was very ambiguous - so no-one will really know until goes up on Wednesday Zoe |

bit ambitous - if someone said to me 'present day' I would think NOW, here, today. But seeing as the indexes are now done yearly I cant see how they'd have them more recent than 2004 (unless the GRO squirrels were burning the midnight oil over new year) That's like leaving a job in 2004 and then filling in your CV to apply for a job today and saying you still work there It's a sham, A SHAM I tell you |

Hi i have read this thread and im still abit unsure. i took out my subscription to Ancestry in July/August. should i be ringing them to change/update my subscription? thanks in advance Penny |

You dont have to ring them to upgrade. Click on Upgrade on the site. It will calculate a refund depending how far into your subscription you are. You then take out a new subscription. It doesnt cost anymore than a normal annual subs. Basically, you just change the time of year of your annual subs. Simple!! Margaret |

I even more confused and I have been following this thread since day one. What are people upgrading to and what advantages over the normal Ancestry sub do you get ? Cheers. |

All you will be getting extra as far as I can see is 'one world tree' which has been explained earlier on the thread. page 3 I am waiting to see if when they upgrade the BMD to full coverage that I will be able to access with the old subscription. It may be that it is just a ploy getting people to upgrade now so they can get your money in earlier , but then perhaps I am an old cynic? Kat |

hi When I click on upgrade it says that I will get a £37 refund and be charged £199. This seems an awful amount to be. Is this what you are all paying? Why are you all so rich? Claire |

Claire, I just checked mine (mine was upgraded last week) so see what you meant, and the £199.00 is to upgrade to world deluxe, so you must have UK deluxe already, when does your sub expire? Debs x |

From a message earlier in this thread, no-one will need to upgrade their subscriptions on Ancestry (unless it's one of the very early ones that was replaced last year, in which case I'd email them to check) I will not be changin my subscription until it is due for renewal, and even then it will be under duress. I am subscribed through the US site as, with the exchange rate, it worked out cheaper. When I'm due for renewal, they'll probably want to charge me $300 for the priviledge. I don't think so! lol |
