It cant be that easy to mistranscribe names when they're all in alphabetical order for you Unless they've just done it using recognition software in which case it'll be all over the place

Surely the searchable database is the one supplied by FreeBMD and the rest will be the page images as per 1837? it can't be anything else unless they have got someone else to transcribe the rest. Bob

I think that's what Family Relatives have used (recognition software) for the pre 1866 and post 1920 indexes. They only had to read the first and last name on each page, so you would think it wouldn't be too difficult??? Sometimes you can be offered pages to view on Family Relatives where the surnames don't even begin with the right letter!! LOL Hope Ancestry have used decent transcribers! (UPDATE - Robert...hubby read somewhere that they were TRANSCRIBING every name, but don't tell him I told you!!) Merry

Am not sure it will cost you 199 pounds - that is for the World Deluxe membership. The UK deluxe membership is 69.95 pounds.

Just going by what I can see on Ancestry. When I log into Ancestry - go to MY ACCOUNT, click on UK Deluxe membership - it shows 69.95. Click on World deluxe membership and it shows 199.95

I had an email about upgrading from then - give me two ticks and I;ll see whether or not I deleted it

okay upgrade to UK deluxe is: Annually - 69.95 MOnthly - 10.95 Pay per view 4.95 bear in mind that againts UK Deluxe on the upgrade page it says 'special pricing' now I dont know if this means special as in the above options or special as in they tailor it towards certain customers Z

I renewed my Ancestry subscription on 2nd Jan and was charged £69.95 for UK Standard Membership. Yes only standard and not deluxe membership. Had to check the paperwork to confirm this. Maureen Just checked the email from Ancestry about subscription and it quotes the same price for UK Deluxe so just wondering if I get the same information for my standard membership.

I think the 69.95 is the additional cost to upgrade from your UK Records collection (standard) membership i.e. if you were new and wanted to access UK Deluxe you'd have to pay 69.95+69.95 if you click on the hyperlink Anne it takes you to the page that gives you the pricing breakdown I added above

Anne, Agreed it doesn´t show the pricing on the MY ACCOUNT page. However, if you click on the words Annual UK Deluxe sub - it brings up another page and shows you what you get for your mone - and the price. Same applies to World Deluxe - just click on the words.

I have just logged out of Ancestry and gone in as if I want to subscribe as a new member. This is what is shown Select a plan and join today! It looks to me that Ancestry's 'De-Luxe' membership is just a new name for the original annual subscription package. At the same time, the old 4 month package appears to have vanished. I suggest it is just a way to reap more cash from us humble family researchers. When will the GRO hike their prices too I wonder ?

I have the ordinary original subscription and tried to access a record I have never seen before. It told me I would need to upgrade to the delux package so it does look like the delux version has 'extras'. It also said I would have to pay £69 but I got the impression that this would be the difference between what was left of my ordinary sub and a new delux sub.....to be honest I didn't think it was very clear so I didn't upgrade. If anyone finds out what is actually DOES include/mean, please let us know! ;o) CLaire xx

I just looked at the Upgrade option too - it told me £69.95, but would also credit me with the £42-odd left from my existing sub. it wasn't clear whether that meant only had to pay £27. or the £69 was in addition. So I've left it for now. I can't see the point of offering Standard and Deluxe UK for the same price...

I just looked at the 'my account' option, to see whether it had any info. Apparently all that is offered now (annual) is UK deluxe or World deluxe. So apparently we should have everything on the UK side already. So far I haven't found anything its asked me to pay extra for, outside of the USA census stuff & immigration lists I've been trying to view. (Can do searches on USA stuff logging into Ancestry*com not Ancestry*co*uk)

Right. Just had a look at the search I did yesterday and the things I can't get without upgrading are the family histories like Leicestershire marriage licenses and calendars of wills. I certainly hope I won't have to upgrade to get hold of the 1841 census. That was half the reason I signed up seeing as I have a lot of census' on CD already! Claire xx
