Thanks Sam I'm slowly losing the will to carry on with the trace of Samuel!! I know his height, eye colour, what his skin type is, what his tattoo's say and even where the scar was on his forehead but don't have a clue when he died!! he left on hell of a confusion behind his family were told and thought until a few months ago that he died in WW1 until I got his naval reocrd

The simple answer to that is ''Yes'' you do need to keep looking on 1837, costly, but I don't know of any other way. You say you've looked up until 1926 as if he should have died by then. that would only make him 34yrs of age, what makes you think he died so young? Sam

Samuel Westwood born June 1892 joined navy in 1910. Last date on his naval record is 9th June 1921 - think he demobed, Have trawled up to 1926 I think and done Free BMD, looked in the Sheffield archives even tried to trace his sisters family but she married a Brown!!! What can I do!! Is the only way to keep going on 1837 and spending hours and hours looking
