william Alexander Stuart Robertson born 1873 London and wife Adelaide Robertson born c1878 London St Luke they married in Hoxton in 1896, by 1921when my nan was born they has had 16 children and were still living in Hoxton, At the time of her birth William was a General Dealer (he had a fruit & veg stall in Hoxton Market) My best guess is living in the Shoreditch area with at least a couple of children by 1901 I have my fingers crossed someone will be able to find him

Just in case it turns out to be relevant, Adelaide was probably RUFFELL, Adelaide Christine

They really are elusive, aren't they! I reckon I've had a reasonably good look. Unless they could have had any reason to be away from London at the time? Christine

Mine were from Hampshire, mostly Crondall. Hubby's 2g-grandmother was one Tryphena Ruffle which is quite the prettiest name on our joint family tree! Liz x
