I am getting Beds only on h*o*t mail. I've just posted a message to the Bucks list on it and it hasn't shown up after an hour. So I think it isn't just AOL. |

Judy, Thanks for that - did have all my rootsweb mailing lists going to the free a/c when this problem arose last time - but it's more convenient to have them on my main address. Strangely, the address I use for rootsweb lists (which is different to my main address) is the one a/c where I get nothing in the spam box at all!! Hopefully the problem will be fixed soon!! Maggie (Now the Girl Guides - that's another story - it's not just the national server - our local organisation has had to use the free address for a long time now). |

You can get around the AOL think by opening a free Y* ahoo e-mail account......then change your e-mail address on the Roots site so all your mail goes to that e-mail account......It's always a good idea, anyway, to keep your personal e-mail account and your online related e-mail accounts seperate.....many of the sites you sign up for online end up selling your e-mail address to online marketers which is one of the reasons you end up getting a lot of spam mail......another reason, when you sign up for sites online, especially ones related to genealogy, one often leaves a contact e-mail address so that fellow researchers can contact you.....marketers have programs that trawl the internet with special programs targeted to pick up e-mail addresses.....hence forth, more spam mail! All, Have had one more rootsweb mail since 3.00am - then NOTHING!! Nothing in Spam Box. The problem seems to have occured since they did their 'routine maintenance' - the mail stopped and never came back - rootsweb help page says they are still trying to persuade aol to let them back in!! Lunar, Believe me I started off posting the girlguiding address as girlguiding.org.uk, but had to have several attempts to get it to stop cutting bits out and post what I managed to get it to accept!! It's not getting into the girlguiding site that's the problem - it's girlguiding being able to send mail to me - they have asked aol to put girlguiding on their 'white' list - but aol have refused!! Maggie you can post www.girlguiding.org.uk as a complete address GR only blocks *com and co.uk addresses. Anything with .gov .org are fine. Depending on your browser and sercurity settings you may have to make girlguiding a safe site. |

I had messages from listowners saying the rootsweb server would be down sometime this week. Maybe theres still work being done. I know there are sometimes problems with aol. I have had a message from the Oxford list today on mine. |

If you're missing your fix, complain to postmaster at a o l . c o m!! Looks like I have no choice but to do some housework today!! (SOB) (For some strange reason they're also blocking girguiding d o t o r g d o t u k so even MORE reason to have to do housework - SOB SOB!!) |
