Hi All Dont know how many of you have read this so thought i would post a message, this book is about a boy brought up in the work houses of St Pancras & quite a number in Lancashire. The book draws a beautiful if slightly distressing picture of the way our relatives would have lived if they had the misfortune to have to enter a work house. It depicts living and working conditions at the time economic climate the reasons some of the people actually found themselves to be there the abuse they suffered at the hands of there carers etc...... This book is is writen by a historian therefore is factually accurate. Im really enjoying it and its giving me a great insite into what life was like in the 1780's and onwards. Anyways thought it may be of use to some of you, as so many of you have helped me with my riddles. Kat :) |
