I've just got a new all singing, all dancing computer that goes like the proverbial. So now is the time for me to take my rellies on a journey and export them to my Family Tree Maker, just leaving their marks behind on the Genes site. Well so I thought but they're all still waiting at the bus stop. The export facility doesn't work! I'm so disgruntled and disappointed. Perhaps someone will start a 'Give Us Back our Relatives' petition, eh what? Cherry |

Hi there.....The lack of export facility is driving me mad! I've send 2 mails and had no response and I thought it was just me that was being ignored...do you really think the export won't be available again? That would be the pits! I have started again with FTB but it's such a lot of info to manually move. Come on Genes at least tell us whether it'll be weeks or months before we'll be able to do it again! Lesley |

I have been waiting to export my tree since before Christmas. I have also contacted GRU twice and not received a reply to either email. I am beginning to wonder if there is a hidden agenda here. All the time we are unable to export our tree we are tied into renewing our membership. Perhaps they have no intention of ever allowing us to export our own gedcom files again. It is time we started to make ourselves heard. Jim I have just sent the following email Hi This is the third message I have sent to you regarding the lack of the Gedcom export facility. You never replied to either of the first two so here is hoping that this one finds you in a more communicative mood. I appreciate that changes take time and people will make allowances for that. However lack of communication and information is an entirely different matter. Look at your message board and you will find that there is a growing resentment among the members that make up this site and input all of the information on it. I'm still trying to IMPORT mine! That part seems to be totally 'hit and miss' because I put up a thread a few days ago, and people gave varying advice, depending on how they'd actually managed to get theirs uploaded. None of the tips worked for me :( Mandy |

I had this reply from GR today as I also emailed them to find out when we will be able to export the files again. 'Thanks for your email I can confirm that this is one of the main priorities of our technical team at the moment and we hope to get this up and running very soon. I hope this helps.' Same problem here! My computer needed a full recovery on monday night, so I lost a lot of info (yes I know, I know - make back-ups all the time) and I wanted to populate my Family Tree program with a GEDCOM from GR, but then I see the message that you talk about. Was it written before Xmas, it sounds like it was. Come on GR, don't rush it, get it right but let's have it back! Trevor |

How long has this been going on........................I've been trying to export my family tree for over two weeks, but all I get is ................................................We are currently working to improve our export Gedcom facility. Unfortunately this means that over the next few weeks will not be able to export Gedcom files from the site. We are looking forward to showing you our new and improved service in the New Year. Please bear with us until then and accept our apologies for the inconvenience...........................I have written to genesreunited but as of yet have had no reply, has anybody else had these problems? |
