The name on her headstone reads - Elizabeth Cranmer Wright/Kelly. Some kind person on GR found her first marriage for me to Thomas Wright. So I sent for marriage cert which says Elizabeth Cranmer Wright (spinster) so a wright married a wright!! Kelly was 2nd marriage in 1904. I have tried - Elizabeth Cranmer (no luck) Elizabeth Cranmer Wright (no luck) Elizabeth Wright (quite a few) On marriage cert father is John (again quite a few results, but which one is mine). Tried Ancestry, 1837, and free BMD. She was born c1857 and died 18/Mar/1948

Lou In Wigan

Hi, My Great gran was know as Lottie May Rachel Davies but on the original there was no Rachel when I got the birth certificate there was a coloumn at the end that had the Rachel listed under name added after registration. I think its because her aunt died and they went back and added it in respect of her. So it could be possible she was not listed with the middle name originally. The other possible is that say I was looking for mine in Wigan they are sometimes listed as where the office was say Ince district. Have you tried the ancestry bmd? Regards - Louise

What year is it and where are you looking? If you are using familyrelatives.org then you can only enter one first name or they give you zero results. Took me ages to realise that. The name is a surname - so it may be it was added in respect of a relative or godparent later on.

Well, in theory her name should be the same on both, but if she is one of those awkward people who gave themselves a middle name some time during their life, it wouldn't be on her birth cert. Where have you searched for her birth registration? Kate.

My Gt Grandmother is Elizabeth Cranmer Wright (maiden name). Would this full name show on the birth cert? I have a marriage cert for her which shows full name but can't find a birth ref. using the full name, I have tried just Elizabeth Wright but get quite a few results.
