I have been searching off and on for the following, for several weeks now. Finally had a long session at it.,with absolutely no result. Edith Gertrude. b.18/04/1904.in Monks Coppenhall, Crewe. Father, George Nevills. a Coal Dealer. Mother, Eliza Latham. Edith married in 1924., at which time she was apparently living in Crom Heath. I have been unable to find her parents marriage listed. Mick You wont find a census entry for them unless they married before 1901. 1901 is the last census that we can view at the moment. Margaret

Hi Mick There are various reasons why you might not find a marriage: 1. Names spelt slightly differently 2. You have the mother's maiden name, but she married as a widow. 3. The marriage took place either much earlier or later than you expected. Look twenty years before and AT LEAST five years after 1904. Does anyone in the family remember George or his wife or any children? If you could find a death for him, this would give an idea of when he was born.

Momks Coppenhall was the area that grew into Crewe when the railways came, although the father is a coal dealer I wonder if he originated in the mining areas of Staffs or Lancashire bring coal for the railways and then moved to the area. Does this sound possible? Vera

Thanks again I had found the 1901 entry, but discounted it . Georges occupation on Ediths B&M certs is definitely Coal Merchant. Although dec.by 1924. My BiL, who's mother Edith is ,has vague memories of aunts Lilian and Gladys.. But nothing definite. Mick
