They'll be turning in their Graves if you've found them!!!!! Brill stuff Robin! Hubby likes baked beans....can't say I'm esp struck, but it is VERY DANGEROUS to give them to him.......................... Merry

Surrey St Georges ( on next line) Southwark there is actually a St George The Martyr church listed under Southwark on the find a church site....... but no details about it... I blame it on Rallphie Val. Wow Roger, the more I look at them, the more I am becoming convinced. Thats the first blatant name change Ive ever had! Right, I will try for the Mary Ann in Southwark as she is my direct ancestor. If it comes through, I kiss your feet! Many thanks indeed, I really appreciate you beavering away behind the scenes there.

found John as well. Catherine will be too early, so this is the set 1839 Apr-Jun Graves, Emma, Westminster 1 350 1841 Jan-Mar Graves, Mary Ann, St Saviours 4 501 1843 Jan-Mar Graves, George, Westminster 1 433 1847 Jan-Mar Graves, John, Hackney 3 184 IGI's got baptisms for a Thomas Edward and Matilda Mary who could be older siblings, looking at the ages there's room for some

Heather

Heather Report 23 Feb 2006 19:59

Thats very kind of you. I cant find the siblings either - as you say, wonder if it were a name change? Have to think about this one.

Montmorency

Montmorency Report 23 Feb 2006 19:57

the transcription is a mess. Catherine, Emma, George are all St Margaret's Westminster, and John is Hackney. But I can't blame Ancestry for Graves instead of Groves, because it does say Graves. There's a birth for Mary Ann Graves 1st qtr 1841 St Saviours, not quite spot-on but very close. And there are births for Emma Graves and George Graves in Westminster in the right years. Is it possible they went off Graves and changed their name?

Heather

Heather Report 23 Feb 2006 18:45

Ill go for the sibling Merry, one of them must turn up. Thanks everyone - STEVE, on to two large scoops of double choc chip icecream now.

Merry

Merry Report 23 Feb 2006 18:40

It had it's own reg district in the 1840's, but I have looked three years so far and zilch...... :o(( Merry

Heather

Heather Report 23 Feb 2006 18:35

You know, that right, its hard to read but it is Surrey St George Southwark. Still, doesnt help does it!!! Actually that does teach me or remind me not to take ancestrys transcriptions as gospel.

Merry

Heather Report 23 Feb 2006 18:30

Do you know Merry I dont think Ive ever looked at the image, I got this info long ago : 1851: Mistranscribed as Graves. Catherine E Groves abt 1836 St Margaret, Middlesex, England Daughter Shoreditch Middlesex Emma Groves abt 1839 Finningsute West Smith, Middlesex, England Daughter Shoreditch Middlesex George Groves abt 1843 St Margaret, Middlesex, England Son Shoreditch Middlesex John Graves abt 1847 Hucking, Middlesex, England Son Shoreditch Middlesex Mary Ann Groves abt 1805 St James, Middlesex, England Wife Shoreditch Middlesex Mary Ann Groves abt 1841 St George in the East, Surrey, England Daughter Shoreditch Middlesex Sarah Groves abt 1786 Romford, Essex, England Grandmother, Grandma Shoreditch Middlesex Thomas Groves abt 1804 Ingetestone, Essex, England Head Shoreditch Middlesex STEVE, and I grated Seriously Strong Cheddar over the hot beans, so it sort of melts into a nice stringy mess.

Merry

Merry Report 23 Feb 2006 18:22

I don't think it does say St George in the East...... Doesn't it say: Surrey, St George (and on the next line) Southwark ?????????????????????????????????????????? Merry
