does the term inmate mean .................

thank you for info im going to have a look for a work house in coseshill i wonder were there parents were then do you think they were orphand or just put in there for another reason angie x

If you go to the first page of the images (Annie is on page 6 of 19) some of the adults are listed as foster workers. Maybe the cottages were foster homes?

have just found out who my grandads mum and dad were so went looking for my great gran annie sennett she was born around1897 in b,ham on the 1901 census iv found her living as an inmate with who might be her sister ellen sennett and a hundred other inmates now annie was only 4 and her sister 7 with no sign of a mother or father does the term inmate mean that they are living at an orphanage they are living in coseshill b,ham angie x
